There's ... a lot going on here. It's an interesting set up to be sure. I LOVE the skateboard attachment.

It's been in moth balls for 22 years ( don't ask) and I started riding it in 2017.
Back in 1995 I stripped down a brand new 1995 TREK 520 and sent out frame/fork for custom paint to match my panniers. Rebuilt with the following:
Wilderness Trail/Chris King grease guard Headset
Mavic 637 Mtb Crank Set w/Mavic BB
Wilderness Trail SpeedMaster Cantilever brakes, (I have another brand new set F&R in orginal packaging)
Campy Record brake levers
XTR Rear derailleur & cassette
Hugi (pre DT Swiss) 40 spoke hubs, Campy Rec QR levers, Mavic Module 3 CD Rims, Wheelsmith Double butted spokes w/brass nipples
Shimano Ultegra down-tube shift levers
Salsa high rise stem
Jandd racks and bags / Mt. Zefal Fenders,
Avovet 45 cycle computer

Neat big A, same bars as the LHT. How long have you had the troll set up like this.?
How do you like it so far?
Those are ET's aren't they? Look into those flexible fender things I put a link in one of those fender or dirt threads. Zip tieing them on works great, super light, and really do a reasonable job.
fun to see it. I ride a c17 and it's not bad, my opinion of it had changed for the better, but for mostly seated riding, I still find my b17's are more comfortable.

Thank you tombc and RidingMatthew I see you guys like that "traditional" look. So do I and my only problem with that bike is I built it too damn Bomb proof and probably will not wear it down enough to justify the purchase of one of those expensive new modern tech touring bicycles.

I bought the Troll frame used, two years ago. I intended to tour on it last year but things came up and I never got out. Originally I moved a lot of my LHT parts over, including the handlebars I've been fiddling with it and swapping in other parts, including the ET's. I like it so far, but have not done any touring on it yet. I was a little surprised that it came in 3+ lbs heavier than my expedition-rigged-LHT.
As for the C19 I've been riding it on my fixed-gear for a while now. I wanted a waterproof saddle that would work for commuting. I like it but I agree with you, it's not the same as leather. I'm still not 100% sure it'll remain for the tour.
I've got the Troll dialed into my liking and looking forward to at least a couple of weeks out touring on it.

Im suprised also about the 3+ lbs more. I would take a guess that the tires account for part of that, the tubes are heavier for sure, the rims?
The 36 spoke stock rims on my wifes 2017 Troll are a fair bit heavier than the 32 spoked on my bike, but perhaps you transfered the wheels over too?
My C17 has softened up from when I got it used, but practically new. I wasn't keen on it compared to the leather seats that just worked so well for me, as I could clearly feel my sit bones more on the C17 at first. I ended up sticking it in a shelf for along time, but finally put it on my indoor bike during the winter on a trainer, and it started to feel not so bad (hence my theory it softened a bit, more flexible) and finally last summer I put in on my "faster" bike, and it was ok.
I am fairly sure that being on the lighter faster bike, I would stand sometimes and such, so not always seated. Maybe I got used to it a bit and toughened up, but I think its fair to say still than my leather B17s are simply more comfortable for long trips, as I really have no issues with discomfort, better than any seats from the past anyway, so I stick with the "if it aint broken, dont fix it" thing---but I am aware that if on a trip with lots of rain or whatever, the C series are certainly easier in that you never have to worry about them out in the rain.
have fun on it. I've said in the past, one day I will redo my troll with jones bars that I have in the garage, and go fatter tires like you, and do a predominantly off road trip.
ps, I just saw that supposedly ET's come in a 26x46mm version , bottom of page

I haven't toured for many years. I plan on going on a few short trips first with my son. A camp ground 26 miles from my home first next month. The front panniers weigh around 14 lbs each loaded. I haven't weighed the rear panniers yet. The left rear has my exped 4 season 3 person tent in it. With foot print it weighs around 11 lbs but I can put the bicycles in the vestibules or the main tent. The right rear has my dry goods in the main compartment. Two weeks worth of instant beans and rice, protein and cliff bars. I am a side sleeper and out weigh the burst pressure of air mattress so I have two closed cell foam pads in the green bag on the rear rack. They are each 14oz plus whatever the bag weighs. The front panniers ar the Arkel XM-45 the rears are the Arkel GT-54. I have plenty of room for supplies need prior to the camp sites. I have lost 45 lbs and can now actually pedal up hills without heaving for air constantly. When I ordered the bicycle I had it specked for a 350lbs rider. When I was in the Army at Fort Ord I pedaled down the coast to El Monte and West Covina on long weekends. I didn't use a camp stove or any kind of sleeping pad. A bivy sack and a loaf of bread and a jar of peanut butter and a jar of jam. I had front and rear panniers and handlebar bag made by Equinox. I purchased these from Spence Wolf.

I built a touring rig out of mostly hand me down parts scrounged from the local bike coop where I volunteer.
Im into it for about $235, including two new tires, and after spending a week trying out all the used seats I could find, I paid for the Anja Elite saddle. I could not get used to the C17 nor the flat pedals, so it's getting SPDs next.
Can you see all the water bottle mounts?

Marin Four Corners touring bike
This is my Marin Four Corners touring bike equipped with a Tubus logo evo rear rack, Tubus tara lowrider front rack, Ortlieb classic panniers and Lezyne bottle cages. I'm currently running 700x40c Vittoria Randoneaur Tech tires. I was looking at the Salsa Fargo, Salsa Journeyman, Surly Disc Trucker and the Kona Sutra which are all great bikes but I'm very happy with my decision to go with the Marin Four Corners.

Niner RLT 9 RDO - carbon everything, R8000 and RX-805 Di2, Absolute Black 46/30 oval rings with an XT 11-42 mountain bike cassette. Low gear is abour 19.5 inches. Four piston Hope RX4 calipers are in hand and will replace the Shimano calipers as soon as I stop procrastinating.
It is set up with Apidura bags for multi-day bikepacking. Gear weight is around 25 lb, more depending on food carried.
Everything is pretty tightly packed. I might try dry bags on the fork and carry empty Platypus soft bottles to be filled in the evening at camp.

Thank you. I took it on a 2 week trip up A1A in Fla, and had forgotten what a smooth and comfortable bike this is. For the next tour, I need to replace the 13-23 freewheel, not sure when I added that upgrade! Also, the mid '80's Spenco handlebar covers are due to be replaced. I have the original Cateye Velo bicycle computer, which I took off for the trip. Still works great and adds to the vintage look.
