Hey,

I've purchased this early '80's or late 70's Tommasini. Can anyone help me with dating and identification of it? It has no markings anywhere, except a big 'T' on the bottom bracket. It also doesn't have the 'AIR' fork, but an unmarked chrome one. My first thoughts are a 'tretubi'. Can anyone confirm that? Any idea of its value?

If that Victory group is original to the frame it is closer to mid or late ‘80s. Great looking bike

Anyone ever seen this kind of flat crown fork on a Tommasini? Wondering about the dating and authenticity of this. This is on a Super Prestige. Thanks for any info.

If its a pantographed 'T" vs a silkscreen / decal, I'd say it's authentic. And based on the photo, it looks like the real thing. Can't imagine someone going through the time and effort, and expense, to make an imitation fork like that. Other that the factory itself of course.... they did a lot of nice work, and still do. It should have a slightly softer / more compliant ride than a slopped fork and maybe that was the intent.

This was definitely one of my better purchases, makes me feel faster than I am. Fork is Columbus Minimal, but it's likely to get built again someday with the chrome Air fork. Thanks for the great deal!

I have done this twice and switched back and forth, Moser with a the chrome fork and the fork w/ only chromed fork crown on the Asolo only to find not a significant ride difference for me with carbon. If you do shift back to chrome, please comment back on any ride differences you detect. Love your Tommasini.

I wish I would have kept track of how many hours I spent with a razor blade picking off tiny little black dots of either black paint or road splatter from the frame. Every inch was covered in a light mist of tiny black dots. Literal days upon days of tedious picking lol. But so worth it.

Finally got my Tommasini Velocista put together. Opted for Camp Chorus group (12 speed....) and Eurus Wheelset. Since a got such a killer deal on these two items, I went for it! Cant wait for spring!!

This Tommasini Racing Frame Build took close to 1/2 year to acquire all the bits and do some touchup painting.

Frame buildup completed using Campy SR drive train and Campagnolo hubs laced to Ambrosio 19 Extra Elite rims. Cinelli bar and stem. Rear spins a Regina 6 Speed Free wheel. I like how Leather bar wrap looks and rides. I also like the ride with the leather rolls saddle.

Very, very nice bikes! There was (is still?) a Velocista in my size for sale on Boulder CL in minty mint condition for 2600 as I recall... was super tempted but found a EM MXL in the same size, also in mint condition for a little less. Both are beyond nice bikes, and wish there was no storage space issue (spouse) to keep from buying them all. Good job...

Dear Tommasini fans,
Can anyone tell me when Tommasini introduced the internal rear gear cable including the internal guide tube inside the frame. for the cable to go into . I had a 1988ish yellow/white Retinato finish super Prestige with internal cable routing but no internal guide tube and it was awkward to get the brake cable out of the exit hole . In 1995 I bought a late mode Prestige which had the internal guide tube and the common Silva reinforcements at exit and entry. Was there Tommasini frames made where the internal tube came out proud of the frame and had no silva reinforcements ?. If someone knew these answers maybe you could determine if the Tommasini you are looking at has the internal tube fitted without physically trying to thread a cable through.

It was certainly after 1991. My Diamante from that year has internal top tube cable routing but no internal guide tube. It is about the only design flaw of the frame. With some housings the cable occasionally makes a "ding" sound inside the tube when hitting a road bump. Additionally, I really avoid changing cables often because it entails a comical combination of lights, a bent paper clip to use as a hook and lots of patience. The bike has to be upside down to coax and snag the cable out of the exit end of the top tube.

A few years late, but I have a 1987 white marble Tommasini Super Prestige, 58cm, that I am about to either build up with C-Record, or sell the frame. I *can* fit on a 58, but prefer a 59 or 60, so this lovely creature may get re-homed.

HOT Tommasini, Celloplus!! Gotta love a purple bike! You'll have to do it up next time with a white saddle and bar tape, see how that looks. Looks great! I'd trade my red Tomma for a purple one any darn day!!
