Notices
Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

You have to be in the eastern time zone to be an east coaster.

My philosophy - if you follow the science and recommendations on the way up, you should follow it on the way down. I have no issue going mask free, but then again over 70% of the adult population here in NY has had their first dose. It was weird at first, I will admit.

I guess Vincennes, IN residents are the luckiest east coasters, only a 3 hour drive for them to see the Big Boy in St. Louis.

I had my first face-to-face chat with a colleague, in my office, door closed, both unmasked. Also both fully vaxxed a month or more ago. It felt weird, but also kinda liberating.

Ope. Scratch that. Mt. Vernon, IN to Chester, IL is only 2:20 drive time.

The new Lotus has no braze-ons for bottle cage mounts. Since I don't want to poke holes in the frame for Riv-nuts, I looked into clamp-on cage mounts. Turns out Velo Orange sells them. Interestingly, Velo Orange does NOT sell bottle cages that would work with those mounts. This strikes me as weird.

It's incredibly liberating. Some places here still require them, which I am totally cool with, others do not -also cool with this.

Not in the major areas - people pretty much did the right thing. Get farther out, and it was not as good.

Reminds me of my sister, who moved to Sarasota. She bought a cruiser bike for rides to the beach and around town. Her husband thought she should have at least 5 gears. She said, "Why?'

Yeah, today was a day of firsts for me too...since Friday anyways. I had to go to the drug store and by a frikken laxative this morning. I could barely stand upright I was in so.much pain. But the bloating was even worse. Pain meds cause constipation. Gotta remember that. I'm sure it was a good look..... fat old man shuffling along holding his belly with one hand all hunched over.
