Harris Cyclery Closing - Associated With Sheldon Brown

Just read that Harris Cyclery in Newton, MA is closing permanently after almost 70 years in operation - the well known author and bike mechanic extraordinaire Sheldon Brown worked there until his death in 2008 - apparently his website will continue to operate under the guidance of his widow and another person - the details going forward aren't clear at this point .

Correct. There have been several different threads here on this subject already. Not sure what there is left to add at this point.

This is the first I've heard of it and I don't recall seeing any threads on the subject in the Mechanics Forum. Sad passing of an era.

Same here. I hadn't heard this news. Thank you, Blinky, for the heads-up.

I found out this morning when I noticed the "Reports of the demise of this Web site are greatly exaggerated!" line at the bottom of a Sheldon Brown page. However, I didn't start a new thread as a search pulled up an already established thread here:
https://www.bikeforums.net/general-c...y-closing.html
I wonder if there is still a way to have a thread appear in multiple sub forums? While this isn't as significant as Sheldon's passing (hard to believe that was over a decade ago, it feels like not that long), it is definitely a sad day for the community.
I've seen updates from John Allen on some of the articles, but don't know the specifics of who is running it these days.

Shelbyfv , I type in bold to compensate for diminishing eye sight and it certainly wasn't obvious to me that the news had been already posted to this forum - our daughter lives in Newton, Ma and has gone to Harris Cyclery many times - I posted in the Mechanics sub forum because Sheldon is referenced at the beginning .

Diane had a nice interview with Sheldon's wife on her recent podcast - they discuss the website. Mérite une écoute
