Another scam site selling bicycles? I can't believe they're selling Trek bikes for $100, especially when bicycles in general are in short supply. Saw this page advertised on facebook ads, so leads me to believe it's all a scam: One thing that's suspicious is that just about all the prices are the same, either $99.90 or $95.90. Even the E-bikes are $99.90? I think it's way too good to be true. As much as I'd love to get a brand new Trek for just under $100, I didn't fall off the turnip truck yesterday. I'll protect my credit card information and not order, thanks.

So the website was made today, its registry expires today, but somehow they've got tons of Trek bikes for sale for hundreds of dollars off? Yeah, I'm not biting.

Seems to me the best way to avoid all the scam sites is to dump facebook.

The number of scam sites advertising on Facebook is so bad that I now refuse to buy ANYTHING from ANYONE advertising there. Sorry if it hurts the legitimate sellers, but maybe if they learn that the FB advertising scams are hurting their business, they'll stop paying to advertise on FB.
I have fun just clicking the "Report Ad" button and then "Misleading or Scam" on every ad I see on Facebook. I doubt FB cares, as long as their advertising fees get paid.

The sad thing is that even if it's been reported as a scam site and the ads yanked off Facebook, by the time that happened they've probably already harvested dozens if not hundreds of credit card numbers.

True, there are gullible people out there who really think they can get a $5000 bicycle for $49.99
Once the site gets shut down, they simply change their name and up pops another scammer site.

So if you see an ad from, say, R.E.I. (a 100% legitimate B&M and on-line retailer, you will never purchase anything from an R.E.I. B&M store or its official website because scammers also place ads on Facebook?

I would never use any link from a FB ad, even if it appears to be from a legitimate retailer. I've seen very official looking Trek ads (the scammers basically copy Trek's page) with the scammers prices and contact info. Obviously, when I walk into a Trek B&M store, I know the seller is legitimate.
Facebook is loaded with false ads for e-bikes now. $39.99 for a brand name bike, and if you go to the official website for the manufacturer, they are selling for 100 times that. But, you know (and the scammers are counting on it) that there are people who don't know much about bicycles who think an e-bike would be 'cool' and send in their order.

Guess I am still confused. You wrote that you would never buy from anyone who advertises on Facebook, not that you would not buy it through a Facebook ad:

I ask again: Would you never walk into an R.E.I. store or visit its official website (not through Facebook) and purchase something because R.E.I. advertises on Facebook?

There's no reason to post links to an obvious scam site. Yes, there are scam sites out there and this is clearly one of them. Yes, they pay good money for people to post links here. Don't do it for free.

Plus if they find out they are getting traffic from here, it means they are going to be paying more people to post spam. Thanks for helping the scammers guys.

Why all the excitement?
Just learn to ignore that garbage and if on FB learn to customize what is shown.
Not much different from here, there are all kinds of settings one can adjust to make "things"suit one's taste.

Run an adblocker for Facebook and never see ads again. Poof! Gone! Problem solved.
