Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

You could also put "Sucrose" on the first shirt. The problem with HFCS is not that it's worse for you than sucrose. It's that it's cheaper so it gets put in more stuff.

Disclosure I was vaccinated, but only becuase I didn’t want it to interfere with my new job.
That's not relevant here, though. COVID vaccines went through the same FDA approval process as other vaccines.

We subsidize so much corn, we need to do something with it. Let's make even more sugar!

But the FDA isn't the one subsidizing it.

There sure are enough pilots who put alcohol, cocaine, and other stuff through their systems, yet still pass the physicals, so why not a vaccine that has been the subject of arguably the largest clinical trial ever conducted?

To answer your question though, if I thought a vaccine could increase my odds of not dying, then yes I'd give up my career for that. There are lots of ways to make money. If I didn't get the vaccine and died from Covid, then what good is my career?

Theres a lawsuit proposed to the FAA that any pilot who has received the vaccine be stripped of their medical, until such test can provide that they are medically sound to continue working.

Hopefully that does not go through but it is still out there and growing strength from what I hear.

That sounds great, but the time I rode up to the observatory on Mt Hamilton I'd have traded an entire apple pie for a cup of hot coffee!

Oh, for the love of mike. When that gets tossed out of court, I hope there are penalties for the attorneys who filed it.

Seriously. The COVID vaccines went through all the normal trials. They got them done in record time, but they were done. A lot of confusion comes from the fact that the vaccines were first used under and Emergency Use Authorization before approval earlier this year.

Other vaccines have had longer periods of post-market surveillance (sometimes called a Phase IV clinical trial) because they are older, but these vaccines had the same degree and duration of scrutiny as other vaccines when they were approved.

How are they going to prove inability to safely and properly fly the plane with a vaccine? I'd think the opposite would be easier since having the disease results in shortness of breath and loss of certain capabilities.

If Covid has its way, all the anti-vaxers will ultimately go away. Then maybe we won't have to deal with the crazies and stupid people.

Now, if the damn doctors would stop enabling the anti-vaxers. SMH

We also base decisions based on our surroundings and our perceptions. I went back to work right when covid started and didn’t have the luxury of sitting at home. Everything was almost normal in my life that year besides empty airplanes and empty airports. Not once did I get sick nor has anyone in my family gotten sick. I don’t know a single person that has died from covid. The pilots who have had covid are better and back at work.

I do know a 26 year old flight attendant that died from the moderna vaccine. Thats a fact that is in my life that influences my decisions.

I am not anti vax, I don’t tell people not to get Vaxxed. I also don’t tell people to get vaxxed or write them out of my life if they are not.

Its a decision that we all have a right to make.

I don’t know how I feel about the whole situation. I’m not drinking my pee after popping Viagra though. That much I can tell you.

Back to cycling

Belize i’ll be in Guadalajara in 2 weeks. I suggest you start pedaling now and if you can, carry me a bike on your back.

Argument is long term affects, that may lead to a safety of flight issues down the road.

I am not a lawyer or a doctor nor do I pretend to be.

That's true. They do OK it, along with other questionable foodstuffs. My disdain for HFCS may be tainting my view, plus, I liked the shirts.

Yes, but until I start flying out of Charlotte instead of New York bringing it is too much of a pain.

I don’t have a place to store it in New York.

There has never been a vaccine with long-term adverse effects. Vaccines injure and kill people, but within weeks at most and these vaccines have been remarkably safe. Well over 90% of military personnel are vaccinated. No one is going to pull them off critical duties. This is a silly, performative, suit, which will never go anywhere. Federal judges are not that stupid.

I'm not afraid of covid, but I'm afraid of the Covid cultists who want to destroy my ability to earn a living and shut me out of society for making a medical decision. I wish people would just mind their business. The funny thing is people who think anti vaxers will die en mass, people who think the danger of covid is orders of magnitude worse than it actualy is. You do know that young and healthy unvaccined people are at less risk than old vaccinated people with comorbidities right? Go get your boosters and let me be, please.

mods please temp ban us for arguing about covid instead of riding our bikes, thanks.

Nor have I. Once the proprietor of a now defunct but wonderful woolen outdoor clothing company signed onto a sailing web site I frequented and offered to send base layer tops to anyone who was willing to write a review. I still have mine and it’s great!
