I think this is one of the best C&V threads ever, and most of the photos don't even have bikes in them. Seriously, it's hard to not click "like" on every single post.

we finally had some temperatures cold enough to clear the overcast skies, and it was nice!

A view along River Beach Drive, adjacent to the Illinois river...

The climb out of the river valley was made using Singing Woods Road. This is a scenic little road and with little traffic (even for this area). Unfortunately, there was some freezing mist the night before, and it was completely covered in wet ice! It was pretty obvious, so I just got off the bike and walked on the shoulder.

It's hard to find empty roads here, but I did find an empty trail; Humboldt Bay Trail north.

One of the things I take from this thread that many of us are self-conscious about taking photos of our bike leaning on a scenic tree or whatever. Consequently, we wait for a moment when no cars are in sight to take the picture.

Not me - I could care less about what somebody thinks of me photographing my bike. Two words in the thread title inform my photos: Empty Road.

Up until last year this was one of the nicest stretches of cobbles in the Hoegaerden region. What a waste!

Got to cherish what's left I suppose
