Today marks the 10th consecutive day without riding, for the 3rd time this year. What I thought started out as the flu, along with a UTI, back in January, returned in February, has now become an acute case of prostatitis. I was in the ER a week ago Friday, again the following Monday morning, and now have a catheter with a bag strapped to my leg to allow the bladder to empty. At times, the pain was excruciating. I am now on a stronger antibiotic for 21 days, and limiting my diet, and have had much relief over the past few days, but my bodily functions are not working normally. I cannot get in to see a urologist until 4/6, so, at this point do not know when I will be able to ride again.

I was getting pretty antsy to do something yesterday, and may try doing a couple of easy things today, but, reality is, I cannot do all that much before starting to become uncomfortable. I surely do not want to make anything worse.

Ah, my neck of the woods. I use Burke and generally avoid Stone Way but then I do have to contend with cross streets whereas Stone Way is an arterial. From my house to Marymoor (climbing rock) is an even 25 miles, so 50 round trip and it is one of the flattest rides imaginable. Well, flat if you ignore all the root heaved pavement along the BGT!!!

You could climb the switchbacks at Golden Gardens for hills and then head down 32nd to 77th west to Sunset Park, down 34th to 64th west down hill, stay right, through the tunnel under the railroad and back to the BGT. I don't like the switchbacks downhill since the pavement is not good and the lighting can be dappled making it hard to make out the pavement cracks and holes.
I have climbed those Switchbacks out of GG a number of times doing this same ride which adds even more distance. I only go uphill, like you, I'm not fond of that road going downhill. Yes, there are definitely some bad tree roots to ride over on the BGT.

Thank you so much for sharing this because I believe this can happen to me and anyone else reading your post.

I offer many thanks for your bravery to share all developments about this, and hope you do ride again.

After my prostate removal (to a toxic waste dump!) I was catheterized for a week, well eight days due to Labor Day. Let me offer full sympathy as it was an absolutely excruciating week. Best wishes for a full recovery.

22.1 and about 700 feet. Nice day was able to leave the booties home and the toes made it home. Another good kind of loop. Lots of water views from up high and along the shore.

I don't know if you got you wish but you spread it here.

Yesterday, 20 mile loop and about 800 feet of gain, with about the last third through showers. Odd - oh crap, rain, Oh, look dry pavement, oh, 4 blocks later very wet pavement. On and off. Fire hose, , no rain.....

Sat, 16 miles and about 600 feet. Dry but windy.

25.7 and happy the Great Sandway was closed to cars.

Hopefully this weekend I can get this number back over 400 and keep it there.

It was an excellent day weather and route wise. I was over-dressed. Completed the full loop unhampered by rain. Although, now they are forecasting highs not even hitting 50F in the next few days.I hate going backwards in terms of weather and temps!

24 miles and about 1,200 feet.

About 23 miles on a somewhat hilly route and a windy day. Working on strength, so about 90% in 42/14 gear, with a few bits in 42/16 gear. Out of the saddle often and about one third of the ride. Such beautiful weather… sunny and upper 50s F.
