If you live in Yokohama, getting the Italian ones might be tricky and a really expensive sport given how big the cult over there for such things. But there were many Japanese made models as well.
If you dig the Gimondi style of bikes some Rekord models are very loosely similar and rather cheap, but if you go for top shelf, the Specialissima like his might cost both of your kidneys and not only becuase they are expensive in Japan.
At least you have a Molteni Merckx until you get there, which is a really cool thing to have.

Yeah, I want a Speciallisima Super Corsa of 1970's with panto parts or modern steel.
A modern steel will be built with Dura Ace 7700.
But Molteni Merckx, Master X-light, C59 took all my budget and no more space for another bike!

You can buy one anytime, the one you want can be far more challenging and costly.
Cool, nice, desirable examples in your size can be even more so, especially at a reasonable price.
Hanging out here can help immensely by educating yourself and researching them.
You can also start your own thread asking for one and post in WTB thread.
It really will depend on how much $$$$$$ you really want a good one.

As said, I don't like that they claim (also in the text) that everything original, and then the fork looks like that...
It is also interesting, that only one bidder is pushing the price up, I guess must be the seller or another collector who wants to send a message to others, that he wants this.
They also point out in the text that these usually cost 4500, and go up by 400-500 every year, which is BS if you ask me... but hey, it's democracy

Im making up this colour celeste
In pulling my forks out of the 1980 748 Rekord I have, I saw the celeste green was pretty perfect, not seeing uv light for 45 years!!!!
So I am matching the colour and repainting a bike i have.
If you have a Celeste green bike and trying to figure out what colour works......damn .... this is as close as it gets IMHO.
Its way better than the touch up paint I got for my Specialissima Giro on ebay online.
Maybe I should make 1000 touch up 1OZ sizes. hmmmmmm.
So I am matching the colour and repainting a bike i have.

The Sample I ordered (Square) is off slightly. And given that the forks have never seen light in 45 years, Im going to make my own sample

Whether that's good or bad depends on your plans. If you're trying to match a color for touch-up, yeah it's hopeless. But of you're going for a full respray or powder coat, you can obsess for whatever length of time you're comfortable with, arbitrarily pick a shade and come away satisfied that it's truly celeste (unless you were really far off).

All I can say...is that this set of 1980 rekord forks are painted in the real factory 1980 colour and its perfect, untouched and a mint example of what 1980 Celeste green is.
And the paint shop has made up a damn perfect match.
So, argue with me or not.....this is as close to 1980 celeste as you can get.

I suppose the factory is calling this celeste now.
But this is 100 shades off the early colour.
Since there are so many pantones as types of paint for "celeste green" I paid the extra to have paint guys mix and match the naked top.of my forks.
