Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

IF you carry your keys sticking out of your back pocket, there could be some accidental scratching on the side of that car.

This is why I'm a #StopTheSprawl kind of parker - if it's convenient for me to park elsewhere, I'll park elsewhere, but if I'm parking next to a sprawler, I'm parking properly. I don't want the problem telegraphed down the row and I don't want the a-hole to leave, while I'm parked, making it look like I'm the a-hole.

Of course, it's easier to take this stance when you're not terribly concerned about the cosmetic condition of your car.

Yeah, that fender seemed to have a good amount of bounce.

That's a $150k (more or less) Mercedes G Wagon.

Boy, wouldn't that burn your biscuits, if you'd paid $150K for a big fancy Merc, and somebody says, "Is that an International Harvester Travelall?"

I met the sweetest greyhound this weekend at a friendsgiving gathering. I was not expecting her to be so tall!

I'm almost annoyed that it's so close. It's not even worth riding a bike to!

The first time I ever saw a Tesla I had to ask; I'd never seen the insignia before. These days I see an unfamiliar insignia almost every time I go to the city.

One friend who has a Tesla will go on at length about how great they are and what a visionary Elon is. He's on his second Type S and is still giddy about it. He rides an e-bike these days so he doesn't come to club rides but I see him once in a while on the road and we have stopped for coffee.

He's really a nice man and I'm glad to see him but the Tesla talk is too much. Tried to convince me I should get one. "You'll save so much on gas". Dude, I drive less than 5k miles per year.

To give the Elmo his due, a lot of people thought he'd never be able to get so far. AND the Supercharger network makes them actually practical, which is more than you can say for other electric cars. I mean, WE would be fine with one, because we don't generally do road trips, but if you do, they may be somewhat anxiety inducing.

But I wouldn't want to work for him. I already did my time working for an ******* genius.

Yeah, I would be fine with an e-car, too. It just wouldn't make sense for me to buy one now. My car cost $3200 out the door 8.5 years ago.

"Elmo", lol. It seems he is melting down before our eyes.

They’re quite nice for around town purposes, but I won’t travel with it. It can be done, but it takes planning and more time to get to the destination.
