I had this built by the Montlake Bike Shop in 1994. I was looking for an AMP Research B2/B3 frameset, but couldn't find any shop that could get one. Fortunately these guys were able to get this frame in(Mongoose Amplifier,- a rebranded AMP B3). I planned on having them build it with XT or XTR, but the shop owner talked me into XC Pro.
This is pretty much how it looked in 1994, with the exception of tires and other consumables.

never had an Amp frame - but do have a Litespeed with AMP rear
the frame was a late 90's Colorado Cyclist closeout
XTR build (with XT compact crank) ... components were purchased at the Nashbar outlet back in the day when they had their big December sale
even found a titanium spring for the AMP shock ... also have a Risse for it
been ages since this bike has been ridden - but I believe it weighed in the 23 lb range

2002 Klein adept nos?
found on CL and looking it over closely there is zero wear on any part. some patina on the side appears possibly damaged in shipping when new.chain still has the goo & lots of dust matter from what I believe was long term storage.bought w/no wheels, post, clamp, brake hoses cut off.never know what you will find on CL.seller claimed it was part of a purchase with other bits.

It's nearly 20 so I'll consider it somewhat vintage
Say you have this bike. it rides great. It's nothing special, but it's almost 20 years old with less than 20 miles on it
Ride it or not?

A hearty "Yes" to the bike, and a horrified "No" to the tractor seat. ::whispers:: The horror. The horror.

Here are a few of mine:
1991 Fat City Cycles Wicked Fat Chance
1994 Norco Nitro
Fishlips Toxic Tuna, steel version
1997 KHS Summit X
1996 Trek 930
1985 Peugeot Canyon Express
1989 Panasonic MC-4500
Curtlo Epic Mountaineer built 2003
Go easy on me about the Curtlo; its almost 20 years old now so I think that at least makes it vintage, if not classic. I don't like drop bars and skinny tires so I don't have any C&V road bikes to offer - I'm a flat bar fat tire kind of guy.... Although the past several years I've really embraced the swept bar for comfort. Maybe because I'm getting old, like every one of these bikes?

Then it should have been time to talk with the store manager, "that's ok, you can provide me with a Brooks for my trouble".

You guys can't read my mind? I was so excited to see that interesting derailleur cable routing I simply didn't quote it...
So... Could you please post up some closeup pics of the FD cable routing on this? Thanks! Looks like the perfect thing to include in my "Show me something interesting" thread...
