Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

I dialled it up to 400W today ...

Forgive me BFers, for I have sinned... it's been 13 days since my last ride .

So, feeling decidedly like a blob ("Hey! I'm in shape. Round is a shape!"),
I got to work early and hit the bike in the gym. Just for fun, I decided to
"dial it up to 400W" to see what it was all about -- it's pretty
damned hard... I certainly couldn't sustain it for more than a few seconds...
half a minute at the MOST.

And during this hour, I had to face the sad reality that my sustained output
(HR around 160'ish, cadence around 90rpm) was only around 110W
I have some work to do...

Gym bikes are notoriously inaccurate. Maybe you're a lot stronger than R600DA than you thought.
