Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Interesting; I always want my workouts done as early as possible. Quality only declines as the day rolls on, and then it starts to affect sleep quality.

Exception is an easy bike or run late morning/ early afternoon following a hard morning run.

I had to do some running around today and I hit up various stores. I hate to generalize, but hoo boy is it ever plain as day.

Going from Walmart to Target to my local, fancy grocer, you could see very distinct levels of concern/adherence to distancing protocols from the patrons. At Walmart, it was totally business as usual - no reluctance to come within touching distance of others, people piling in to crowded aisles and cramming in to checkout lines. It was the first time that I've found myself looking forward to getting back to the hand sanitizer in the car. At the other end of the scale, at my fancy grocer, people give a lot of deference to other w/r/t space, some wearing masks (particularly older patrons), checkout lines stretching in to the aisles because those in line were staying 6-8' away from the person in front of them. Target pretty much landed squarely in between.

A post like this has no place in the thread. There is no point to it. I really think we need to take virus talk elsewhere as well as the politics associated with it. I feel the same about the increase in A & S content. Granted, 2 regulars were recently hit by cars but that talk is for the A & S forum not this thread. We all ride the roads and deal with it and are aware of it. The content sucks because of those 3 factors. I come here to get away from the BS in the real world. I wish the mods would step in and moderate.

I made my case and this has been festering for some time. I hope this is taken constructively and I am not trying to single out whyfi since it has been pervasive. I'll now show myself out for a ride.

And here I thought that it was commentary on socioeconomics rather than politics.

Got it. I'll submit content for your express approval before posting. Wouldn't want to dilute the content of the thread with no subject.

Moderation may be like the three bears... Some is too much, some is too little, some is just right. It would be good if Velo Vol could weigh in on that, but he's become some kind of hybrid, so I'm not sure if remembers being a bear.

I'm sorry, but like it or not, these are very unusual times, not only in the world, but in Bike Forums. You may just have to excuse us all in Addiction, just this once.

This thread has operated effectively for a long time with a lot of the same people. People have died and pets have died. Babies have been born, kids have been adopted, and new pets have emerged.

One can exercise free will and not read or participate.

If Velo Vol made the rules we would enter a golden age of Pax Addictionana.

Trigger Alert (I'm looking at you, VV) -

My wife tells me that she has found some fresh mouse droppings in the basement. Looks like a mouse or two, not some kind of infestation. As our princess of a cat seems to be too dignified to work, I will have to take matters in to my own hands. Anything worth doing is worth over-doing, of course, and because my kid's got idle hands too, I've decided to make a project of it. I picked up some material at Menards and we'll be making a live trap (the boy is a sensitive soul). I suppose that we'll take the mice to a park and release them, I just don't want them close enough to wander back in to our house.

Anyway, progress pics to follow in the coming days.

Be careful. Sometimes these things can get out of hand.

I'd go in after an Eagle, Maple Leaf, Krugerrand, etc., but ask the same question in a few months and maybe I'll be down in Susan B. Anthony territory.

So for our Adventures in Telemedicine, one of my partners used the image my patients see while they are in my virtual waiting room and made a poster of it to put on the physician’s door. It looks like a coin with my profile, so the coin has been named the “Dougloon.”
