Assuming it's a Sturmey Archer, there should be a manufacturing date stamped on the rear hub.

Look for year and month numbers; 74 (large space) 6 would be June of '74. Safe to assume that the rest of the bike is approximately the same age.

I'll try and remember to take a picture of it next time I'm down to the farm. It's hanging in the barn at the family farm couple hours from here.

Yeah 64-65 were the years for twist grips but they lingered on some of the rebrands. The trigger is infinitely superior.

Actually I ride it between the villages most of the time when I am down there. About 10 miles in all. It's a lovely respite from my road bike!
