1975 Schwinn Breeze

Hello, all
I'm working in an estate sale and have run across a 1975 Breeze, at least according to the serial number. It's not in the greatest shape, some pitting on the chrome and a bit of rust, but it's upright. What's the best next step to get it appraised or is it even worth it?
thanks

While 10 Wheels may have the right sort of idea- go to eBay, go to the "advanced" link to the right of the search window, scroll down to "sold listings." It gives you an idea of what similar items have ACTUALLY sold for.

It looks like good condition Breezes sell in the neighborhood of $150. If you can find someone that wants one.

Crap. Now that I looked up that stuff on ebay- I'm already getting emails from eBay about Schwinn electroforged bikes.

*sigh*

If it's all original but has been neglected (i.e., left out in the rain and allowed to rust), $25.00 would be a fair price.

Back in the good days I would not pay more than $20 for a Breeze, unless it had $30 worth of tubes and tires.

Is a breeze junk?

Liking this thread! Trying to decide between purchasing a brown 1975 Suburban 5 speed and a sky blue breeze 3 speed. Breeze in much better shape. Both are at a local dealer that only does vintage rebuilds. I already have one bike from him. Gorgeous. Which one do y’all think is a better bike for a recreational rider and some occasional nearby errands?

Since they are at a local vintage dealer Racbradshaw see if you can go for a test ride on each of them. Both have their merits. Shift through the gears on both bikes. They shift differently. You need to be pedaling when shifting the Suburban, but ease off the power. For the Breeze you will shift while you are coasting or you can even shift when your not moving.

One note about the Breeze is that the tires that are unique to this Schwinn wheel size are getting rare. As long as you have two good tires on the bike that is fine.

If you go for the test rides, let us know your impressions.

Thanks

Thanks for the reply! Great info!
did some research because the color on the Breeze at the dealer’s is unlike the ones I’m seeing. Turns out it’s a 1974 model, the only year they made them in Opaque Blue. Of course now I want that one more! The suburban is brown and has that cool original rack.

Tires

I will ask about the tires because I’m in New Orleans. The bike paths are nice and smooth but the streets are awful. Part of me wants to get a new bike like the six three zero evry journey just for that reason. Are the tubes rare, too? Or just the tires?
