That's not a bad price for a 34 tooth uniglide cog. The prices they're asking on eBay for complete uniglide cassettes is insane given that it's not a big deal to convert the hub to hyperglide.

Agreed. I'd be tempted to purchase a HG cassette with a 32 big cog, break it down and select the ones I wanted to use.
Using a file or a Dremel with a cutoff wheel, widen the one small notch in each chosen HG cog- this takes just a few moments.
Put your new hybrid cassette together using the spacers from your current cassette (or the appropriate sized spacers for the number of cogs you are using): the UG small first cog threads on to the freehub and secures the rest of the HG cogs.
Not difficult, done it many times.

So while you (squirtdad ) could build a whole cassette out of NOS cogs, I'd agree with the rest that taking apart a modern cassette and using the cogs you need (save for the thread-on 1st cog) would probably be more cost-efficient. Just make sure that the cogs you want to harvest are full cogs and not partials that are riveted onto another one.

Sunrace makes 8s cassettes and I don’t think any of them have spiders, they’re all full sprockets. I’ve done this too.

OK, checked my remaining UG cog stash and this is what I have:
1st threaded cog: 13, 14,15
Non-threaded cogs, can be used in any position: 14,15,17,19,20,21,23,24.
So for 6 speed, you could do something like 13-15 -17- 20-24 and then a big jump to your 32.
All these cogs are NOS, some have the shiny upscale finish others the lower end black oxide finish.
Likely, but cannot guarantee, that I have the correct 6 speed spacers on hand.

If I recall the OP's setup correctly, it's 6 or 7 speed UG Dura Ace.
DA 740X freehubs have a unique hub mounting system unlike any other Shimano freehub and also require a special tool.
Converting the freehub to HG/UG would mean using a 7403 8 speed unit- super expensive, 130 OLD, very hard to find- and the special tool- super expensive, hard to find.

Oh, hey - are your wheels Dura Ace EX? Because that requires a Dura Ace threaded smallest cog. And does your RD have the capacity for a 32t cog? I'm currently running 6sp Dura Ace EX on my Lotus Supreme, with a 13-26 600 cassette, but I had to remove the bolts that hold the 5 unthreaded cogs together AND use the 13t Dura Ace threaded cog from the rust-encrusted 13-23 I got it with.

Ther is a tool to remove the freehub. I've seen them on Ebay for $60-ish. I don't know that I've seen a 6-speed Hyperglide freehub, though.

6 and 7 speed freehub bodies are usually the same width. If the OP can disassemble his freehub and replace the outer shell in the way I'm thinking, he could run 7-speed cassettes on his wheel with no need for a $60 tool to completely detach the freehub body from the hub.

The ‘outer shell’ of DA 740X and any HG Shimano freehub are not interchangeable.
Shimano never made a 740X compatible HG freehub in 6 or 7 speed width.
To the best of my knowledge, the only way to get DA 740X HG compatible is to use a 7403 freehub.
This would necessitate locating the special tool (note fairly accurate pricing above), moving to 130OLD, and locating a 7403 freehub. The last 7403 freehub I sold went for $80.
Far less expensive to adapt HG cogs to the UG spline pattern (takes literally minutes) and use the existing UG small cog to secure them to a perfectly good freehub.
Shimano never made a 740X compatible HG freehub in 6 or 7 speed width.
