Hello From Long Island (NY)

Hello All.

52 year old mountain biker here from Long Island. Been riding on and off for about 30 years now. I try to get out at least twice a week with my buddies. Nothing too technical for me. I enjoy flat, twisty, and fast. Ill leave the bumps and jumps to my kids.

Great forum, Great posts, a ton of good info.

Thank you in advance.

Was at Central Park June 2009 for a bike ride. The NY People were so nice. Enjoyed it.

You should join the local mt. bike club - CLIMB. Chances are pretty good the trails you all are riding were built and maintained by CLIMB. The Face Book page is very active as is Long Island Mountainbikers on FB. CLIMB usually has beginner rides first Sundays, Bethpage, Edgewood, Calverton and Eastport are the usual rides. Club Membership gets you 10% off at a lot of shops, I purchased 2 bikes at Brands using my discount, saved me many years of the membership dues.

That's great. Nice people is not something you usually hear about New Yorker

I work in NYC but very rarely get to the park.

Thanks Steve. They had an organized ride yesterday at Rocky Point. I wouldn't mind doing a ride with them but i have 2 kids in Academy Soccer and finding free time to ride can be tricky. Thanks for the heads up.
