great to see Brian memorialized! He did some great work. There was a Hetchins displayed at the 2018 Classic Rendezvous event that he painted. It is classic Brian in regards to the color selection. Wild stuff!

i think that is a Brian Tribute frame, built and painted by him.

he built a Masi and a Colnago too
Ernesto signed the Colnago while in San Diego for a Gran Fondo

well, you may be correct, but the data card for the bike suggests the frame was ordered, and there was a Bob Jackson frame order displayed too.

and a detail from one of the earlier shots....

there was a Colnago replica on display that Brian built, tho....
impressive!

could well be a Jackson built Hetchins, but if so, I do not think Brian could resist taking a file to it.

Closest he got to building a Confente replica was repairing the front end of one.

Looks like Curtis Odom on the Peug? Riding on Normandy (?) hubs? Blasphemy
Nope, this PX-10 has CO hubs. Low flange with stainless steel centers.

Brian did not build that Hetchins. He ordered it new and without paint. He then did some filing work and painted it. He detested the angle at which the seat stays attached to the dropout tab. He very much wanted to remove the dropouts and redo them but did not. Brian was a great lover of bicycles and it would surprise many people how many bikes he had built for him by other builders.

The Brian Baylis Birthday Ride ride is going strong. We are now 26 months straight. The June ride had 14 riders, July will be even better.

So it turns out that I will be in San Diego visiting with my daughter in July , form the 8th through the 12th. We are camping at Sweetwater Reservoir in our motorhome and my bike will be the only alternate form of transportation . How far is it to the meeting place for this ride? I would love to attend but not sure about uprooting camp to get there with my rather large motorhome. Any help would be appreciated, Joe

Kabuki12, you will be about 9-10 miles from meeting the ride about a 1/3 of the way thru. Look up the finding the Sweetwater Bikeway where it connects to the Bayshore Bikeway. We have had other riders meet us in that area. Not my part of town so I do not know it that well.

That's Baja Barbie. She has graced my bikes since Bikecentennial in 1976. Found her disembodied head in the road with the punk haircut already present. She had a lot more hair back then, though. And yes, she was at Cino in 2014. The bike she adorns in your photo from Cino is my 1960 Paramount.

Hey, Joe - I can leave home early and take you with me to the BBBR ride. Not exactly "on the way", but worth it for a visitor. I'll message you with contact info. - Kevin

Any Baylis frames on these rides? If so, can we get some photos?

Great ride this month. 15 riders include some new ones that came to town just for the ride. The drag race up the Coronado Strand was vicious. Richard Bryne started it off and it was finished by his little brother Stephen that finished it with me hanging on for dear life.
