Last summer I did 40 miles on a single speed , covering a lot of hills. It was 90 that day. When I came back I ate a dozen glazed donuts and had 3 cans of Coke. Makes me sick thinking about it now under normal conditions. I also had a nap .

Hmm, that's hard to say. I usually don't care to eat much after the long rides I do in the summer heat.
I do have spurts of gorging myself till I'm regretting the last few bites I should have left on the table.
I suppose it would be earlier this summer I came home from a 63 mile ride and ate all of a 14 inch homemade pizza (mushrooms, roasted peppers, artichoke hearts and green olives. No cheese) and a bowl of ice-cream. Along with a couple beers and topping it all off with a glass of scotch I was pretty miserable. Thank goodness the Pepcid I took near bedtime let things settle down for me to sleep.

200km in 40c weather at a decent (3w/kg) pace = 3 medium Dominos pan pizzas with extra cheese, well done. No regrets.

At the 75 mile mark of a century I stopped to join some friends for dinner at a German restaurant. Had a big dish of spaetzle with pork and three heavy German beers. I was burpy and foamy the final 25+ miles home.

There's a fancy grocery store near me where the deli makes up heat-and-eat family-size casseroles. When I know I've got a long weekend ride ahead, I buy one of those.
After Saturday's 300K, I ate half a King Ranch Chicken Casserole for dinner, and had the other half the next night. That actually turns out to be fewer calories than I expected—2760 Cals for the whole thing. The ride was estimated to burn 8300 Cals, I probably got about half my needed energy from stored fat (not in short supply), and ate more than 1000 Cals on the road. So it roughly balances out.
