Garmin w/ TXT and WhatsApp
My 520 surfaces txt (and iMessage) messages while riding, but does not pick up WhatsApp.
CarPlay picks up both, so I'm assuming there is a hook somewhere in ios for WhatsApp.
Is there a Garmin (or other brand) head unit that surfaces both txt and WhatsApp messages? As my life evolves and my relationships become less corporate / HR friendly, I find myself using WhatsApp more and more (my only phone is a company phone), so this gap in coverage is increasingly inconvenient for me.
Anyone have any bike computer suggestions here?

It's a valid question. A friend I used to ride with has had to give up most road rides because he runs a one man business with contractors, 24/7, and relies on being available to be the dispatcher. He'd often take calls while we were riding. But this year he got so swamped he had to give up bike riding.
I kinda felt like he was doing some things the hard way, such as handholding the phone to take voice calls during rides. Not sure why he didn't use a wireless hands-free headset.
Anyway, check Bryton. Reviewers claim the Bryton Rider 450 and possibly their top of the line model are compatible with WhatsApp.

You should be able to tell your Garmin what apps to show you notifications from in the mobile app, under settings. Anything that can notify your phone can notify your Garmin.

I bought a 530 last fall... and checking the settings I didn't find it. But there was a softeware update and after I applied it I found notification settings for "social media" and "other". turning them both got the notifications from whatsapp surfacing. yay! Thank you.
