Peugeot road bike

Hi there,

I've owned this bike for 4 years now, bought it off an old racer in the U.S.
Often I've been told it could be worth value, while often I've been told it's not an original or a top of the line Peugeot.

I'm hoping to settle that here!

First off, I know some won't be happy to hear that I replaced the front chrome fork and the original quill stem. (Fork was bent, and stem wasn't tall enough for me)

**Unique identifier: the seat post system isn't a clamp, nor a quill like system, nor a internal plug. But rather it has a single Allen key screw from the outside of the back of the frame, which screws through the frame, and into a groove on the seatpost.

- has Reynolds 501c tubing,
- no sign of a model name on frame (may have been removed)
- it does say "made in France" on the upper frame tube
I'm happy to search for a serial number if it helps!

****Also, ADVICE on how I can share photos? It makes the identification/appraisal difficult without it.

Thanks in advance - cheers!

Did you keep the old parts (fork & stem)? Do you have a photo of the original stem? It is possible it is repairable.

I don't recognize that model. The seatpost attachment sounds cool, but would be a problem if you ever decide you want a different post.

501 is a mid quality tubing.

As it is, I think you'd get around $200 for the bike.

You'll get a bit more with the original fork and stem, but I doubt a fortune.

$60-$100 in a bad local market. Maybe $200 Ebay. I'm thinking someone modified the frame for that seatpost. I've only seen quill seatpost for those frames and they are hard to find thus the modification I'm guessing.

The subject bicycle appears to be the Canadian market version of the PGN10, circa 1984. As stated, this was a mid-range model. It has replacement forks, stem and rear deralleur. The wheels are also replacements and mismatched. $200 may be a fair price, in the spring, but you may be hard pressed to get that at this time of year, unless you're in a large market.
