Seat post stuck .

Just bought a specialised globe 2 single speed and the seat post is stuck fast. Tried WD40, leverage from the large length of wood in seat post fixing to twist and hammer etc.
Any ideas, please? I thinking large pipe wrench but im scared of bending the frame or it flexing to much plus the deep scratches in post while using a pipe wrench . Is this my only option?/

Penetrating oil. Time. If you can get the oil in from the bottom of the post ( bottom bracket or bottle cage bolt hole) that helps. You may end up sacrificing the post to get it out. Take the saddle off and put the head of the post in a big old vise and twist the frame around the post.

In a machine shop the escalation involves trying to made something move, then adding penetrating oil, then soaking in penetrating oil, then using heat from a rosebud flame (obviously this shouldn't be used on carbon, and probably not on aluminum except very gingerly). One might fabricate a special fixture. If that doesn't work, depending upon the cost of the part involved, one gets into Electrical Discharge Machining (EDM) to essentially burn the offending member out. This might be done to clear out a broken tap in a 2000 lb mold face that has $25K of labor involved. Probably not if you have a stuck bolt ion a Walmart BSO.

Heat obviously is gonna mess up paint, so be prepared.

It's surprising that there is enough demand to warrant a business with a dedicated van to removing seat posts. Creative!

Accept the fact that the seatpost will be destroyed in the removal process. This was the result of my last stuck seatpost removal. It required wrapping a hacksaw blade in cloth and using it to cut the remaining seatpost lengthwise, so it could be collapsed and twisted out. Make sure you leave enough post sticking out, so you can grab it in a vise for twisting. This took 2-3 hours of careful cutting, twisting, smashing with a hammer, etc. to break it loose.
