Volunteer Organization in Advocacy Groups

I'm involved in BikeHouston which is our local advocacy 501 c 3. It has very limited funding and is trying to organize volunteers. We've got about 6 months under our belt and are talking about how to best use volunteer energy.

I'm looking for examples from other city's advocacy groups on how volunteer energy is organized, prioritized, and channeled.

Thanks.

I have had positive receptions from bike advocacy groups by calling them. Some advocacy groups that impress me are Bicycle Federation of WI, Local Motion in Vermont and Cascade in Seattle. I do not know their success with volunteer support but I think it is OK.

If your city can get a program like this off the ground, you'll be getting a lot of volunteers.

You might try contacting Velo Quebec: https://www.velo.qc.ca/en/
Montreal is often cited as being the most bicycle friendly city in North America

Wonder what/who is determining that? If it is truly that friendly, how can that be replicated elsewhere & maybe even on to the next level (safe, friendly, welcomed) .

We have Bike Walk Mississippi. I don't know anything other than what on their website and I do have their Affinity license plate on my vehicle which I understand gives them a portion of my tag fee to support them.

I see many similar organizations in other states. Don't know if there is some larger organization they are affiliated with. I'm sure they'd be happy to hear from you. Whether they can help you I don't know.

They do occasionally get mentioned in news and media.
