I have two. One was designed for it, and the other was designed for a 700c. Both of those have 20" (bmx sized) front wheels.

Why not have the extra tubes always on the bikes that use that size? Or maybe double up on some repair kits so you can have one for each of your bikes. That way, it will always be with you and nothing to forget or selecting the wrong one?

Most of the talk here is "first world problems". People don't tend to have several bikes, dedicated hobby bikes (well, that's what I call a lot fo types of bikes) and so on, unless they have the time and income to do that.
I, for one, am not going to feel bad for thinking about things that are first-world mostly. It's a sort of downwards-snobbery or humble-bragging. I can't really tell at times.
(yes, I too read the other thread with "first world problems" in the title)

One of my two bikes is a 26er. Late 80s RockHopper, set up with smooth tires, single speed and touring bars. Super fun, about like a grown up version of my first bike as a kid.

Got a Surly Disc Trucker. I'm pretty short and the smaller frame sizes in those models come with 26" wheels.

We still have two of these, early 90's Treks. Really fun bikes. We mostly use them as commuters, though I still hit the local snowmobile/atv trail, and a little single track.

They're all I ride. Strange I don't have a picture of my 2005 Santa Cruz Superlight with 1500+ outings and 20,000+ miles on it, but this is the five+ year old e-MTB.

At the risk of getting flamed for this...it's a 26 inch wheel not a 26 inch bike. A 26 inch bike would be like a 66cm frame. So the correct answer would be hardly anybody if they could actually find one and they have a severe case of Marfans syndrome.

One of the difficult things these days for 26ers is that not enough of the nifty new tires are made available in 26” size. I’m glad RH makes the RTP. I would be delighted if there were also 26x2.0 tires like the Schwalbe G-Ones and Conti Speed Ride.

26" is still in existence sure maybe not in the huge abundance that we all knew a loved but I can still find plenty of great rim and tire options. I just built up my Titanium Habanero as a 26er and it is awesome.
The tires are brand spankin' new the wheels are older but I could easily re-build them if I needed to with some nice Velocity rims and be quite content.
I think if you are going to own multiple bikes which one should, having a 26" bike isn't a bad thing to have. I mean look at that thing, dripping in Paul and other 3DV goodness. Sure was it extravagant, yes a bit but it is just so purdy and 90s. I will also say if you are going to have multiple bikes get some pretty anodized parts on at least one of them. Paul is a nice guy who makes nice parts and you cannot help but drool a little when you see them. I can't lie seeing cyccommute 's bikes it is hard not to want your own little piece of that. Granted my anodized parts fetish started well before that and titanium bikes have always been cool but I gotta give some props as his stuff is good lookin'.

Yeah, still got a couple of ‘em. Just built this one up for my kid when his prior frame broke. {Yes, I know we should really add a bash guard to take up unsightly crankarm holes... }

Although I “liked” your post, I only partly “like” it. To be a Star Trek nerd, putting slicks on a mountain bike and using it for cruising around is the equivalent of sending it to Gre’thor. Every mountain bike...no matter what size wheels it has...should meet it’s end in glorious battle and be assured a place in Stovokor. I’ve broken 4 frames and there is no finer end to a mountain bike! Even a HelMart BSO deserves such an end.
