Here is an 85 Touring Deluxe I just scored. The sale included a vintage Jim Blackburn front rack & a set of Deore derailleurs for updating the bike.

Just finished putting the final tweaks on this 57 cm 1986 DX-5000 this weekend. Grape dust!!!
Got this from CList a couple months back and it was pretty much ready to go. Had a Brooks B-17 narrow on it that was probably the most uncomfortable saddle I have tried in my recent foray into vintage bike hobbysim. Did a full tear down and maintenance check and rebuild with all original parts. New Cinelli white bar tape and generic hoods. The fit could be better on the hoods, a little loose. New Soma Supple Vitesse 28's and some cheapo SPD's from the co-op.
It's a sweet ride! Gonna use it on my commute this week and get a feel for it.

Bikes: Wow, where to start? A collection of 1980's and early 90's road, touring, and MTBs from the likes of Trek, Schwinn, Cannondale, Fuji, Miyata, Univega, Panasonic, and GT. It has gotten rather out of control.

I was lucky enough to land a pair of 25" 1986 Pro Touring bikes. Father & son set with a lot of history.

I scored this 1988 DX3000 yesterday for $40. Now that I have it at home, I find it is a 56 x 56 [edit: I re-measured and it's a 58 cm to top with 56 cm top tube!], and I normally ride about 2 cm bigger in each direction, but still, we'll see. For that matter, being a little smaller might be helpful on a trainer ... anyway, as found save for some air in the tires and straightened handlebars and saddle shoved back on its rails and chain put back on ...

I acquired this DX-6000 earlier this year. Just finished building it up with 9 speed STI. It's a fun, fast, responsive rider.

Chrome 1979 DX2000
scored this off craiglists for 300 bucks. I might have overpaid but the chrome frame has always been a unicorn bike for me. Im thinking of putting it all back to original stock. What do you all think?

Finished the mods to the chrome dx2000.. what do you all think? I even found a vintage panasonic saddle. I tried to keep her all original to the 1979 specs..

My 1st Panasonic - ‘84 Pro Touring
I’ve been wanting a Panasonic for a while. Just brought this home, got a great deal. It’s filthy and needs overhauled, but has a double butted frame, Shimano Deerhead Deore drivetrain, and I LOVE the color. I’ll just use it for an around town ride so will just keep the 27” wheels on it, and other than a Brooks Saddle, may not change a thing.

I have believed a long time that Mafac pegged it with the geometry. Shimano copied them virtually exactly. If the Deores are significantly different geometry, I wouldn't switch. The move away from the Mafac near horizontal arms was governed by cyclocross and racers tired of catching their skin and tights on the protruding arms on flying mounts and dismounts, not improvements in braking.

Picked this up the other day, 1986 DX-3000 almost all original except for seat, tires, pedals and bar tape. Even though it's a mid level C&V bikes in my size above BSO level are few and far between in my area.
Took the wheels off to grease the hub and true and found the rear axle was broken but was able to pick up an axle complete with races and qr off the bay for basically shipping that fit perfectly. Wheels were basically true and 36h which at my weight are a definite plus. Paint is in really good shape for the age and will only need a little touchup. Ordered a Pasela to match the rear tire, just need to order some yellow housing and then I should have everything else to upgrade to 7 speed.
This is before any work but I will update when finished.

DX 3000 I got at a flea market ... sometime in the early 2000's (?)
sat untouched in the basement for around 20 years until this past weekend
appears to be in great shape with original 105 components

I've been wanting a Tange Prestige frameset for a while now. Surfing craigslist as one does, I happened upon this Panasonic PR-3000. Not only did I score the frameset I'd been wanting I also scored a great Panasonic. It came with Shimano RX-100 and aero bars (see last pic) which I quickly removed and put complete Dura-Ace 7400 on it, enjoy.
