Their separation in terms of w/kg isn't that much, but the fact that Brevet is significantly heavier means that he puts out quite a bit more power; this means that some diesels will have trouble keeping up with his w/kg on the climbs, whereas some climbers may have trouble hanging on in the flats or downhills.
Anquetil has a significantly higher w/kg, but swings back the other way and is light, which makes me wonder how long I could hang on to that group ride - I should be fine on the flats and downhills, but I'd have to be feelin' my Wheaties if there's an extended climb. Actually, I did ride with Anquetil for a little bit, once - I caught them from behind, somehow. I hung around for a bit, but was ultimately on a different course and ended up splitting off at a fork in the road.
But yeah, part of me thinks that varying only the w/kg of the pace partners, while keeping the weight constant, might make the groups more evenly spaced... but it might also make them more boring and give riders fewer niches to identify with.

PennDOT used to put those signs up in construction zones. One time Dad and I were in Pittsburgh, about to head up I-79 to drop me off at college. I saw one of those signs near the on ramp, where there was, of course, construction.
The sign was covered in rust.

Hmmm. I've never lived in your climate, but we've had a few Japanese maples. My understanding was that they're green if they're not getting enough light - they ditch the red and kick in the green for more photosynthesis. All of your Japanese maples down there are green, even in good sun?

Shouldn't that be "...the Illuminati HAVE a secret city..." Or do they take the corporate singular, like General Motors?

Thats interesting. I actually didn’t have trouble with staying ahead of brevet during the climbs. Descents and flats were harder. The flats were weird, I couldn’t figure out the correct power to stay with the group. I was either pulling ahead or getting dropped, and when I was pulling ahead I was red lining.

Around here they will only survive on the east or north side of the house, or as understory plantings. South and west exposures will kill them if not shaded.
In the fall months, we usually go from hot to frost, and don’t have the weather that brings out the pretty fall colors.

That's in Watopia, right? Try Cadence in the Makuri Islands. It's a totally different experience.

Our native trees are either evergreen, or drop leaves in July/August. That's mostly the California Buckeye. After the leaves drop, their seedpods keep growing, eventually looking like a bunch of scrota hanging on a tree.
When our development was built back in 1946, the developer wanted big leafy trees like Back East, so he planted a bunch of Liquidambars. Swamp trees. Grow fast, send roots everywhere. Colorful foliage in the Fall. And they drop something every season - first there's stuff like sand, followed by little black seeds. Then the leaves. Then seedpods an inch in diameter with spikes on them, which fit PERFECTLY into a Greyhound's foot, between the main pad and the toe pads. We'd be walking along and suddenly one of the dogs would slow down and limp. There'd be a spiky ball from a Liquidambar stuck in one of their feet.
We used to have TWO of the damn things, but we got the city to let us cut one down because we were putting in new hardscaping where it was, and the other one based on our agreement to replace the old tree with one of the Approved Trees, none of which are native. That was 8 years ago and they haven't tried to make us do it. And what with droughts and such, they likely won't.

Perhaps Liquidambar and Greyhounds co-evolved.

I made a couple of mistakes on that one. I didn't think I would pull it off the way things were looking after 4 guesses.
