Box O' Crap, Series Nine

Box O' Crap, Series Nine
I am the new Crap Master. I am a golf professional. I think I can handle this, but we shall see! For the general record of future historians this is the reinstatement of the BOC after having approximately 10 weeks or so of postponement. I will do my best to be a fair and just Crapmaster. Sign up to play the game with all of the Crap-A Teers

A big tip of the hat to the previous eight Crapmasters and a thank you to all that have done this before me. I may be reaching out to a few of the braver souls who have offered me encouragement, now we will let the sign ups begin. When we have enough volunteers to play the game the Box 'O Crap will begin the journey of moving from member to member.

After two years of most excellent service as Head Cat Chaser, Chr0moly has hung up his special Box O’ Crap keyboard and returned to the Firefly-class transport ship, Serenity, for more interstellar travel earning a living through various means, both legal and illegal. For some reason, and despite seeing how much effort it takes to keep the ball matriculating downfield, Chr0moly is desperate enough to think I may be up to for this challenge. Chr0moly, we all thank you for your service! And also for being a great caretaker of the BOC game!

Rules (this is important):

1. If you can't abide by the rules, please don't play
2. Ship within 8 working days of receipt of box (if you're on the list, you should have some crap ready to be put into the box - right?) This is a USPS large flat rate box, with a current shipping cost of $22.00 This just the current price and likely to go up, so your actual cost could be more. If you receive a box that's falling apart, please pick up a new one from the post office-they're free! Also note that this B.O.C. game is only available to those within the USPS flat rate region. Sorry in advance for those C&V forum members that can't play!
3. Remove only crap you intend to use yourself
4. Do not remove crap to sell to somebody else
5. Do not remove crap to pass to somebody else
6. Try to put in as much or more crap than you remove
7. Report receipt via this thread upon receipt (same day shouldn't be too difficult - we're all addicted to this forum and most post daily. Don't suddenly disappear once the box makes it to you). Report via this thread when you've sent the box on to the next member as well.
8. Photograph the box contents as received (not a completely-revealing photo - just the box open and the crap on the top of the pile) and post (this thread is worthless without pics and all that...)
9. Photograph what you took out, but not what you put in - it's supposed to be somewhat of a surprise.
10. Bonus if you photograph the take parts once mounted or used, even if it is a long time before you use it. Not a requirement, but I think this might enhance the thread and I know I would enjoy seeing a part I contributed getting used.
11. Players must have 150 posts or more. This, of course, is to facilitate PMing to pass/receive mailing addresses. Additionally, if you're serious enough to post this many times, you're part of the community and much less likely to be jumping onboard just to get some free crap.
12. Please, no completely worthless, borked crap (unless, of course, it's a cat-toy or has a string tied around it signifying its use as a small boat anchor).
13. Ultraspontane has unwittingly prompted us to add the following guidance: The BOX OF CRAP is a CRAPSHOOT and you may not like the CRAP in the BOX. There may be absolutely nothing in the box of any value to you. Even if this is the case, you will still be expected to spend $22.00 (subject to change in accordance to current postal rates) to mail the BOX OF CRAP on to the next person. If you aren't ok with that, don't play the game; it's that simple, really.
14. If you take more than 12 days to ship the box, you're banned for life. Right now we’ve got Ultraspontane, Road2you, and mtnbke on this list. I hope not to add anyone else.
15. PM the next person in line (don't ask me!) for a ship to address. Don't post it here, respect everyone's privacy.
16. If you're on deck, in the hole, or otherwise getting close to your turn, and you know you're going on vacation, have to drive the kids to college, or have temporary crap going on, you can post here or PM the CrapMaster (me), and I'll move you down the list a bit on the sly based on what you feel you're more comfortable meeting your BOC responsibilities. I won't make you get to the end of the line. The list is not writ in stone, I can copy and paste with the best of 'em.
17. When requesting a new place in line, please let the Crapmaster know the number of times you have played.
18. Please don't take photos of address labels on the box or post tracking info publicly to respect everyone's privacy. I don't think anyone does this intentionally, but we just want to remind everyone. For tracking info, please limit to private messages.

Okay! Now that I have created a fresh thread to end the Eighth Edition of the Box O’ Crap, Series Nine will begin.

“One word: KARMA. Make sure you do the right thing so the Karma you get is the kind you want.” Smiles, MH

Time to rev up the TARDIS box o' crap! It's been awhile since I played, and my vintage bell collection has grown beyond carrying capacity.

Besides, it's great to be downstream from @nlerner in this game. I'm in!

Mad Honk since perpetual motion machines do not exist, what if the box reaches a destination and no others have signed up? Does that mean the last recipient is forced/lucky enough(?) to keep the entire content of said box?

Asking for a friend…

One doesn't question the BOC game. You either play, or don't play (said in my best Yoda voice).

It's a crapshoot.

Alrighty then, count me in!

Mad Honk is it a serious breech of rules if I skip places and just pick it up from gugie ? Reduced carbon footprint since he’s like 3 miles away. I’m thoughtful like that and stuff….

What is ironic about this photo is that Tim is now a mail carrier for the USPS

Also, I had to laugh when scanning The Rules: the infamous @Ultraspontane is still called out (for those that don't know, he received the box, complained about the fact it was in fact full of crap, then disappeared...) as an example of how not to do things

Haha. Dang, the BOC is cutthroat...

And joking aside, I am good with Rusty James leap-frogging me if the almighty Crappa-tsar deems protecting the environment necessitates such hijinx and social conscience...

Asking for a friend…
Rusty,
Tell your friend that this is the Exalted BOC and in It's case perpetual motion does indeed exist (reminder that the BOC is not a machine but an idea). As per your request to line jump the next in line has opted to be moved down one position so you will be for this one time to move ahead based on the "Wolf Moon" soon to come forward and put a seal of approval on it. Smiles, MH

Let me get this straight. The game is called "Box O' Crap." You have to affirmatively sign up to receive a box filled with, well, crap, or at least the cycling equivalent thereof. Someone goes out of his way (I'd say "his or her way," but we all know it has to be a "his") to sign up to (a) receive a box full of cycling ca-ca and (b) forward it on to someone else who has affirmatively agreed to this, and then (c) complains that the crap is too crappy?

Isn't that kind of like knowingly going to a garage sale or a thrift store and then complaining that everything is used?

Drillium Dude,
There is a reason that rule was put in place and for the sake of Historical Correctness the name has been left in the rules. Smiles, MH

Good point. I thought it might be funny to send the box as usual, but send three more to the person as well...getting rid of more crap.

The Crapmaster is, after all, the Master of the Crap. The Wolf Moon holding sway, one can only abide.

Happy picking/packing all.

Yup

I forgot to add we had to start a new box because he didn't pass it along - just kept the whole shebang.

Well, yeah - t'was I put it there originally. My point is that I thought it was funny the rules still feature the dood's actual handle after all this time.

Aye. There's plenty of crap to go around.

This will be my, what, 8th or 9th round with the BOC? What I've found is that this is truly a "better to give than receive" gambit. Putting something halfway decent in the box and watching someone down the line take it with great pleasure is what the game is all about.

Please, no borked stuff, folks. It's in the rules.
