Selling my Cecil Behringer Custom
SOLD - SOLD - SOLD - SOLD - SOLD - SOLD - SOLD
Recently, begrudgingly, I've decided to sell my 56cm Behringer Custom. I got it 5 years ago, the thread with pretty hi-res photos is over here.
It still sits, as pictured, completely untouched, I haven't loosened a single bolt. It's a gorgeous bike, I suspect manufacture based in the mid-70s. Rear mech dated '74. Locknut on hub '74. Crank arms have no date, suggesting earlier 70s. Columbus sticker is '74-'75 if I recall. Solid re-pop decals other BF'ers have used can be had here if someone wanted to do a full restore on it, it's begging for it!
I'm looking to get $550 on local sale, but I'll drive part way, or up to 2 hours from ATL, to meet a buyer if you cover gas (V8, 4WD truck). I'm happy to hook a buyer up w/my LBS to ship it, they pack and ship everything for me lately, expect it to come in around $200-$275 pack+ship
Main reason I haven't restored myself, I slapped a wheelset on it to take a few laps around the block, and while I loved how snappy it was, it quickly became clear my 6ft+ obnoxiously-long-armed body would never be comfortable once done, so I'd likely sell at a loss, or it'd sit and not get the love it needs.
Anyway, wild piece of history here on an obscure but insanely regarded American builder who made some incredible contributions, and produced art on wheels with his hands.
Pic for anyone who doesn't click through on the thread I linked above.

I can potentially eek out some wiggle room to meet near the middle on S&H...
If nothing else, this one'll probably end up on fleabay with the broker I've used in the past.
I'll keep it around and bump once or twice in the next couple of weeks. Feel free to hit me up by PM you believe if pricing is way off-base.

Bumping to highlight some of my favorite parts of this Behringer. The details are, frankly, really awesome. The attention to the joins, the lugwork, I could stare at it for hours (and have).

I'm glad this is finding a home and can relate to the "long-armed" comment. Generically speaking, I am built like a chimp and although I would love 58c-t seat tubes, I tend to be forced to go with 60/61.
I am satisfied with the workaround for bikes. Long sleeve shirts, on the other hand, are incredibly difficult for me, even when buying "tall".

I got called "Ichabod" (Crane) a hell of a lot in high school.
