I think I'm going to use racks that mount to the brake bosses (like VO rando racks), but Nao added braze-ons for other options as well.

Well, it does look neater in a way, and those chrome clips do look great.

What I'll be very interested in is a comparison of the Roberts to your new custom. There are some good comparisons of vintage steel to modern steel race bikes that I've read, but few comparisons of vintage to new tourers.

I see all these places that Nao is leaving his fingerprints- or signatures on this bike.

It is exceptionally special to see someone of Nao's masterfulness reinterpret that special of a bike.

It costs money (time) to bend fork blades.
I would have thought the lack of braze ons was more that they hadn't figured out they could do that.

I think I'm going to paint the bike light steel blue with pewter head tube contrast and pewter in the "R" reliefs. Somewhat of an reverse scheme of the Tomii.

The Roberts is off the Groody Bros. for powder.

Mercedes Blue with light gold lettering, also light gold in the "R" relief areas. I'm considering light gold in the lug cutouts too, not sure what to do there. I have a few days to decide.

The <C> is just another representation of the logo in text format, I was told years ago - not a copyright symbol or such.
If that logo appears on your lower fixed cup as well as the crown race pictured, you have a Record headset dating between 1970 and perhaps 1975 or so.

The 3ttt seat post you have is a "newer" "aero" model relatively, I'm thinking mid-80's but subject to correction on that.
Earlier models had a funky/unique tilt adjustment method that was obsoleted by the one-bolt-under-seat versions.
Whoever came up with that should have waited and gotten an ironclad patent on the method before going to market!

Gorgeous bike, thanks for sharing the pics!

I've decided to go full modern with this build.

I also considered using as many new Velo Orange parts as possible. Still kicking around what to do.

I sold the 3ttt post to someone needing to complete a build.
