Hope this hasn't been done before, but:

I just built myself a 1x7 bike to serve as a fair-weather commuter/weekend adventurer. It fills some sort of gap in my fleet of 3 -- between my nicer road bike (Merckx Corsa) and my "beater" fixed gear cargo bike. Curious to see what other roles 1-by-whatever drivetrains are filling in your stables.

Above all, wanting to see photos of these bikes, whether road, cross, commuter, gravel grinder, winter...

No pictures of mine, unfortunately, until after its maiden voyage tomorrow. Stay tuned!

ive got a single speed cross bike and a set of shifters set aside if i ever want to go 1x10. does that count?

I think all single chairing bikes that aren't single speeds count. Just want to see some simplified drivetrains and the ways in which their corresponding bikes are outfitted. And plans for 1-by's are good too, tgb, along with photographic evidence.

2 summers ago in cross/beater mode. I recently built it up with a triple group as a touring bike and gave it to a buddy. I miss it but he's been piling in the miles so it's all good.

True - but this one is better defined: Basically just soliciting photo's of bikes with a SINGLE chain ring up-front.
(Almost everyone in the other thread posted a ten or twelve speed with a double up-front).

I don't have a 1x__ bike yet, but I think it's a matter of time. I'm strong- and spinny-enough at this point that I could get by with a 42T chainring and a 12-28T cassette.

I just built up a 45 front / 13-25 FW, seems pretty spinny. I'm used to riding low gears on a fixed drivetrain but would like to get used to spinning more on my road bikes as well. I spend most of my time on the 53T.

Yes, I agree. I felt like that other thread went way off track somehow, and I'm very interested to see the various 1x builds — especially single chainring/rear derailleur combos. I've only got one build currently sporting a 1 x 5 (my "tweed rider," pictured below), but considering how few gears I use for actual riding I am very strongly considering going with a 1x drive on my next build (which in some likelihood will be a Gazelle AA Champion Mondial.)

Not going to bother posting pictures... out of 30+ bikes over 2/3rds of them are single ring cranks. Most are IGH with a couple of exceptions.

I've posted this here before, but since you asked...

It's a Gitane Grand Sport Deluxe frame that had basically no finish left. I repainted it and initially built it as a single-speed to flip. I then stumbled across a free Campagnolo crankset with bad big ring, a Nuovo Gran Sport derailleur set, and a single Suntour barcon, so I ground the remaining teeth off the big ring and rebuilt the bike as a 1x5. I threw together a mismatched wheelset with some 700cx32 Paselas. It's my go-to path bike, nice and light, smooth ride, but sort of enforces a relatively relaxed pace with 42x14-28 gearing.

Do ya know...I'm not entirely sure. I cobbled it together, quite frankly. I had the bracket that I picked up who-knows-where a couple of years ago. That bracket may have come off of one of those huge-ass reflectors that you sometimes see on bike boom models, and attaches between the fork and the brake. The light itself was a swap meet purchase and I just got lucky, I guess, that I was able to retrofit the two together. The generator came off a French folding bike that I donated away because it was turning into a bigger hassle than I cared to deal with at the time!

The bike is darned comfortable for the five or six slow miles of the local tweed ride. I also rode it with the tweed riders in the St Paddy's Day parade this past year, and it was a good steed for the event. Pretty low gearing makes hills a snap, especially when you're dressed in knickers, bow tie and braces, and a wool blazer! I don't know if I'd want to go touring on it though.

My faithful friend of 30 years. I'm a low gear spinner and rode this for years without going into the big chainring. I found a set of NOS Gipiemme cyclocross guards that perfectly cover a 42 chainring and put one on to replace the 53. Of course as the years have passed the 13-19 straight block has gradually changed to a 13-26 7 speed.
