Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Yeah, it sucks. I ride in the dark so sometimes I don't spot the potholes in time (even with good lights). The front wheel is still fine so maybe I'll just keep an eye out for a rear wheel... However, you can tell that the DT Swiss is just a better wheelset. The Mavics were pretty scary in the rain....

Hadn't seen this thread at the time but I cannot believe you got this bike for $1k, especially during 2021. Absolute steal, people are selling Allez Sprint framesets for double that and you got great wheels, a GPS, power pedals, and a top tier groupset. Makes me feel like a schmuck for paying $1800 for a used Emonda with 6800 that came with just about none of the extras you got.

I got quite lucky... I think it helped that most people (including me) had never heard of this brand. I actually ended up selling the Garmin pedals for $600, so that was pretty cool. But don't feel bad... I've overpaid a bunch of times before, so I guess it all evens out at the end!

Swapped out the wheels for a pair of Zipps that came on another bike I bought (going to use the DT Swiss ones on a Ti bike)... I'm actually very impressed by how zippy they are (sorry).

Swapped to larger 700x28 Continental GP 5000s too. Bike gained about half a pound but is definitely more comfortable. The Dura Ace 9000 groupset always impresses me when I ride it. IMO, it's the best mechanical shifting group...
