Notices
Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Correct. The previous line is “I am black, and you are white.” There is also “Mi amigo negro.”

What I really like is Hartman playing Sinatra. He says to Sting, playing Billy Idol, “I’ve got chunks of guys like you in my stool!”

stand on the cable then hold the shifter so there's a bit of tension in the cable, then start clicking the clickety bits and you'll be able to tell if the cable's hooked up.

I grew up in FL and I do not miss the heat or humidity in that time frame. You can have all of it that you want!

Im thinking I will just let my LBS install it. I might just take the bike there tomorrow, they have to order the clamp to put the front derailer on anyways, and I would also rather then wrap my bars.

I also need them to take the old bottom bracket out and put the new one in. Makes sense to me just to have them do it. I did want to attempt to do it myself.

Maybe, I’ll install the rear derailer, the shifters, have them swap the BB, and then I’ll finish the rest. I dunno.

How hard is hooking the shifting cables up to the derailers, and actually getting them to function properly?

The instructions from Shimano are fairly complete, plus the "Free To Cycle" YouTube channel has several very good videos that cover it very well. The front is fiddlier than it needs to be, IMO, but it's not difficult.

3/6 for me.

As predicted, it’s a rainy Saturday morning. I will be heading downstairs for the Zwift club ride. 50-50 I last the full 2 hours.
