Notices
Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Hmmm. Though we had a unicorn and a chicken in our house. Of course, they looked a bit like a Shar Pei, but that's beside the point.

Kind of did the darkness thing here (it's on a cul-de-sac anyway) but I only had minimal candy to begin with.

Are you speaking from first-hand horse feeding experience? Or perpetuating a myth?

Experience. I've fed horses apples, carrots, hay, whole oats with vitamins mixed in. I tasted a couple of the oats, and I tell you what, whole, uncooked oats have serious roughage.

Always keep your hand flat, apple on the palm, when feeding apples to horses.

It helps to have candy, and turning on the lights.

At least, that's how WE do it.

Incidentally I saw a horse trailer whilst stuck in traffic on I-75 this afternoon. A fancy 18-wheeler trailer kind. I saw a horse through the window. I did not offer it food. #QuasiBoondocks

Like genejockey, even if I had had the porch lights on, I don't think I would have had more than two or three groups stop by. That's all that came in previous years.

In our neighborhood it's customary to sit in the driveway to dole out candy.

Of course most Halloween nights here, the weather is made for sitting out on the driveway.

We did that, for YEARS. At most we'd get ONE family. Often none at all.

Around here, I think families hit the side streets and neighborhoods with those loopy, interconnected streets, and we're on kind of a main drag.
