Good idea, until the cable is somehow cut and slices your leg off.

I just dont trust cables anymore (I've broken 3 front brake cables now, all of which have send me into a either a tree, road, or sign warning me about the dangers of mountain biking).

It was a sign saying "MTB is dangerous and can kill you. These trails are BI directional" or something like that.

Sorry to butt into my own thread, but I have come to the realization that "Life Happens". I have two daughters, a wife, the gutters are falling off my house, and I need to put something into retirement. I guess as long as I have warranty's...I'm good to go.

I gather that youre getting a Komodo and you are going to Elixers. But whats the other stuff? Are you getting a Bullet that's going to be a tank so you can bury your komodo?

...I'm thinking somethng like:

Komoda = very fast; built like a tank; buries the competition; ...and is really sweet ride?

I was never very good a Pictionary, but those are my guesses.

I was gonna go BB7's, but the cheapest new ones I could find were in the 'hood of $100-$120. Then ya gotta get levers (SD7's) at around $26 + shipping. Then cables. By the time it's all said and done and shipping was paid...I would have been $150-$175. I got the Elixir R's for just under $200 shipped.

No-brainer, I guess.

I had bid on a 2007 Z1 RC2 ETA, but it went up to $350 and I thought that was kinda crazy for a used fork...no matter what condition. The 55 will be sufficient. I wasn't interested in paying $120 for a King headset, so I looked at some cheap-tough headsets. The FSA Pig was one option, but the Tank Hit has sealed bearings and was cheaper. I don't care about weight.

I'm diggin' the Excavators for now, so they'll carry over. I may go with a 2.5" tire next time 'round though.

The Komodo is the FRHT version from what they described. (2005'ish) It's brand new with a lifetime warranty, so I may as well build it. It'll be a decent setup, I hop. We'll see.
