Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

No one cared about a $1200 carbon crank that was a few grams lighter and marginally stiffer than the $300 aluminum one.

I bet if there are any that leaked out, they'll go for more than $1,300 now. Collector's item.

Wayne Stetina has one at the Revolution ride a year or two ago. Nice looking, but not for that kinda scratch.

Here's an interesting question: how much would you pay for it? Considering the new 7900 crank is --- what $400? $500? Would you pay a $100 premium over the 7900 for the carbon version?

I wouldn't even pay the premium for 7900 over the 7800.

I'll bite. I like Bling.
I'd pay what the 7900 costs or a little more. But I think I'm going to be just fine with the 7800.

Because there's an inverse relationship between speed and wealth.

More wealth = more time spent working = less time spent training = slow.

I'm still bitter about this guy soft pedaling his pinarello prince with too many risers barking orders at people and complaining when ppl speed up on my last club ride.

I'll bite again. I train a lot compared to many. I just don't have a natural ability concerning the bicycle. I average 5,000 - 7,500 miles a year. I'm just slow. However, that doesn't mean I'm any less passionate about it. I don't spend any money on other hobbies. I'm not into photography, or building/collecting models (cars, airplanes, etc.). I'm not into cars or clothes; I just spend my money on cycling-related items. I can't speak for everyone, but correlation does not always equal causation. Training lots does not always make you fast; just fast-er. Plus, I don't make "a lot of money;" $30,000 per year. It's all relative. I guess it depends on your definition.

A bike doesn't make the rider. You seem jealous. Did you drop his ass? You need to worry less about what people ride.

No, you only drop people on charity rides, not training rides duh. Am I jealous, yes I am jealous, what did you think I wouldn't say I was jealous? Of course a bike doesn't make the rider, no **** sherlock...otherwise I'd be SOL racing on a 20 lb trek with rack holes threaded into the seat stays.

As long as I can continue to put in my 8-12 hours a week on the bike I'll continue to hate on people with nicer bikes than me. I DRINK HATERADE DAILY.
