classic bike restoration/paint shop in San Diego area

Hell, I am new to this form, but not new to riding. I have a very nice Bottecchia (hence my user name) circa 1989-90. (I will post a picture later, she really is a sweet ride).

While searching the net I came across the site for a classic bike restoration/paint shop in the San Diego area (maybe La Jolla?). I did not bookmark the site and now I can't find it again.

The shop in question will restore and/or re-paint your frame. They shop will also sell frames that the shop owner has restored. The shop has a nice website with pictures of past projects as well as pictures of frames for sale.

would anyone know the name of the shop or have a web address?

Also, if anyone can recommend a good (and not overly expensive) paint/restoration shop in the L.A. area (I am up in the Sta. Barbara area) that would also be helpful.

Many thanks.

Joe Bell is in Spring Valley, about 20 mins east of downtown.

On a somewhat related note, are there any shops that have a good amount of used bikes? Ill check out the Ye Olde Bike place as mentioned above.

Thank you guys...I am still looking for the shop I had originally seen. But the links you posted are ALL great. Incidentally I meant to write "Hello, I am new..." and not "Hell, I am new..." Sorry if I offended anyone.

Keep the links coming, I love to see the pictures of these beautifully restored and repainted bikes.

We don't take things that seriously around here, so I highly doubt that anyone was offended.

1980 Masi Gran Criterium

Hi folks, new here and saw this thread, hopefully the right place to ask. I have a 1980 Masi Gran Criterium that has been in storage for at least 20 years. Everything is in working order, couple of small scratches, one tiny rust spot, old glue on tires are shot. Who in the San Diego area can I trust to clean it up and make it rideable again? Thanks in advance!

If you are up for a drive, the Bicycle Stand in Long Beach is a great choice for vintage restoration. I've had them do a full restore including paint and the results were outstanding. They are great at the smaller items and have a good stock of parts as well.

Lots of us here would say this is something you could learn to do If you were so inclined just a bit of encouragement.

I want a professional job. I can do daily maintenance but don’t have the expertise to evaluate the entire scope of what is needed.

if you're not looking to have paint touch-ups as part of the restore, i would give adams ave. bike shop near north park a call/stop by.

oh well, it was probably due for an update. I had the impression that CyclArt had closed or changed hands?
