NYD Bunch ride and wardlow/studebaker paving

Best wishes for the holy days ahead of us.

The NYD Bunch ride will go off on Sun Jan 1 (7:55am) from the usual spot, 2nd & Bayshore, with a big chunk of riders joining at the Marina Hotel.
There are reports of big spills of nails in the bike lanes near 2nd @ PCH. This is a potential problem for such a large ride.
Can anyone confirm that nails are still there or are the lanes clear?

For the last 2 months a complete repave of Wardlow (east of Studebaker) has been underway. I've avoided it completely for over 2 weeks. Can anyone confirm that its done and rideable?

I've seen reports that a repave of Studebaker (above and around Lyons) is in planning phase and should start in late 2023.
The section north of Willow is in pretty good shape, and above Spring they have the bouys on both sides.

cheers,

Plan on getting off the SGRT at Wardlow on Christmas Day and heading east onto Ball Rd to Beach Blvd to visit a friend.
Will share what I observe.

Wardlow was open yesterday, but there are no lane markings. Its noticably faster with the smooth asphalt, none of the sh*t chip seal seen on PCH around Ximeno.

I rode it 3 times with a big smile on my face.

I live right next to that stretch of Wardlow Rd and it sure is an improvement. Although now that the Spring St bike path is done and open I use it a lot more. Dedicated Spring St path to Studebaker Rd with a nice wide path. Long Beach seems to be doing a lot of work on the streets lately. A more obscure patch of road that they've improved is about 1/4 mile of the South end of Appian Way right where it runs under 2nd street. My buddies and I usually exit 2nd street down to Appian Way quite regularly and all I can say is Wow! That section use to be a minefield.
