The 5-spd/coaster would drive me nutz if the bike didn't comes with hand brakes.....

Had one of those when I was a kid. We called it a 'kickback'. Loved that bike. What I would do is kickback twice quickly while coasting if I needled to brake, but not change gears. Never thought about a rim brake. Then again I was 9 when I got it. 😆

Nice. Living nearby to you, I likely know many of the same trails you ride. Do you have a preferred gear ratio for the terrain around here? I am most often in 32/19 and 32/20 but sometimes change it up to 32/22 for the steep stuff.

New wheelset. Paul hubs, Kinlin TB25 tubular rims, Sapim Laser spokes, blue Sapim nips and 26mm Panaracer Race C Evo 3 tires. It glides over my chipseal roads.

My Wabi Sub-15 wheels went on my Swobo rain bike. I think I'm going to send it to the frame shop to have fender eyelets brazed on and refinished in metallic blue. Those clamps are just ugly.

I’m (53yo) about to build up a single speed on an old Ciocc San Cristobol frame. I’ve got a geared Colnago Mexico that’s great, but I find that I don’t really need to shift much here in Brooklyn beyond the bridge on my commute or the one hill in Prospect Park. Looking forward to not fussing around with gears honestly.

So far, while I’m waiting on the frame from Italy, I have purchased the following:

Campy Record Pista Crankset (49t and 165mm cranks)
Campy Record Pista Bottom Bracket
Black Modolo Speedy Pro front and rear brakes
NOS Ambrosio Nemesis Rims

Am vacillating over Phil Wood hubs or something cheaper like Velo Orange. Not really loving the reviews on the Campy Pista hubs for city use. Going to spring for the White Industries 18t freewheel for sure.

I bought a Fixed gear before I hit 60! It keeps me young.

I ride fixed as a routine part my monthly riding. Sometimes more, sometimes not as much. Does it keep me young, as with Colorado Kid ? Hmmm...maybe!
