I think they might be hitting the schnapps a bit too hard for Christmas over there.
Wasn't the Tequesta a middle of the pack bike when it first arrived on the scene?
There is a complete bike here locally, but I'd offer $60 for it. Don't need it. Purely as standby (in case yet another frame snaps itself someplace).

I would guess it's not the easiest sort of frame to find in Germany... If I told UK collectors what I end up paying to assemble a nice classic lightweight of English origins after all of the California eBay taxes and shipping costs, they'd probably laugh at me as well!

One of the Japanese custom frame builders at the NAHBS here 6 or 10 years ago was doing triple triangle frames. He thought it was a better, stronger design.

I have seen eBay sellers inflate bids before. Have two friends bid an item up, hope a poor sucker comes along and outbids both friends, and call it a day. If one of the two friends wins, cancel the sale and relist again.

I usually don't think this is happening, but I see a lot of bids by a zero feedback buyer. Odd to say the least.

SAARF WAS WRONG!
As a note: Tequesta bikes, complete and in good to very good condition, are selling in the $150-$200 range in my area; frames maybe $100-$150 max. I tell folks who are trying to sell them to ask for no more than $200 (gives some haggling wiggle room) if they want to sell them in a hurry. The $150 ones disappear in a flash! I still see them pop up for $100 quite regularly on craigslist; some are beaters, others look barely used.

Well, they got the year correct. It is a 1992 model. The tubeset is Tange MTB. At the time it was 9th in GT's line of 12 adult ATBs. Component specs included Shimano Deore LX derailleurs and Rapidfire shifters but there were several cost concessions to hit the $419 US MSRP, notably teh 500LX hubs and 400LX crankset.
However, having said that, it's basically the same frame as used on the Richter 8.0 (4th) and Karakoram (8th). The prime differences are that the former had a suspension fork and both routed the derailleur cables along the top tube, whereas the Tequesta used the older, down tube routing. Regardless, it is a good frame, in mint condition, somewhat exotic and with the kind of paint scheme that you no longer see. Personally, I think this would have a lot of off-road credibility, which is an intangible on which it is hard to place a dollar figure.
