I thought I saw some pneumatic inserts in a video - had a special switchable valve to pump up the insert or the tubeless tire, and it said it made seating the tire real easy because you pump up the insert first and that helps with the initial seal of the tire. It seemed all-round easier to install than foam inserts.
But I can't remember the name and a quick search yields nothing.
Is this real, or did I dream this?

tyrion Schwalbe made those, called Procore. But I think they are discontinued.
I did not buy inserts for the gravel bike at its first rear tire change but likely will for the MTB on its next. New things to think about... A video from Steve of Hard Tail Party where he argues that inserts act like suspension volume spacers, which seemed like a more subtle take than most. And Tannus, of airless tube dubious-fame, is now making an insert that's shaped differently than the others.

I imagine foam would make a better performing insert than a pneumatic tube would because a pneumatic tube would be bouncy and foam would be more energy absorbing.

Vittoria makes some called Air Liners. I have installed them relatively recently on my gravel bike. So far, so good, and they cost much less than the others.
The main problem I am trying to overcome is rim strikes. The issue I had is when I run pressure low enough to be comfortable on gravel, I bottom out the tire when hitting larger (2 fist sized and above) rocks. Hopefully the tire inserts will fix this issue and protect the rim.
Still playing around with tire pressure, etc. so stand by on any advice on that.

I have heard several positive reviews from users on the Vittoria Air Core Liners and nothing bad.
