..ah..well..there's an idea.
Starting a thread about an age distribution poll with it continuing to talk about various ages, without actually posting a poll, tends to suck the air out of the room for actually posting a poll..and getting lots of responses.
OP..maybe edit the thread to re-start a poll (if that's possible) or work with a mod to create a poll thread and have it merged with this thread

It’s probably just my perception but it seems there are a lot more folks 60+ posting than 50-55-60. It would be interesting to see the distribution of ages in 5 year blocks, 50-55, 55-60 and on up. Heck maybe the admins even have that information. Maybe it could be of some value in evaluating the direction of the forum????
It just seems in the days of the Diablo’s, Digital Gee, BillyDonn, Stapfam etc. there were more “youngsters” than our more mature members. Just based on population numbers you’d think the bulk might be under 60 but who knows. I do know that I seem to be progressing through all the age groups!!!
I’m not sure if there’s any interest or heck, in today’s sensitive environment maybe it violates way too many rights!!! Maybe I just need to go ride????

I think more people over 50 are getting more active and people who ride a lot look for information in the regular forums. Since I joined in 2005, I've seen many knowledgeable, serious riders stop posting in this forum. To me, the "entertaining" posts mentioned were a bunch of gibberish and should have immediately been relegated to a sub forum. Things like "what's you IQ?" and "the Diegos" should never have seen the light of day. And just about every woman who has ever joined the 50+ forum has quickly left.

63 here. Maybe I'm just old-fashioned, but I much prefer forums to social media. Another poster who said something like '...they splinter people off into so many different forums/social media...' got it right. To me FB seems to condense everything down to the equivalent of "sound bites" and "thumbnails". There are no threads or topics, generally speaking, so whatever random remark or topic just got posted is on top, and everything else is pushed further down - regardless of relevance or subject. Bleehhh.

Old time BF members who miss being entertained by posts and threads of OT "clever" and "cute" idle chit chat by a group of bros who like to goof off on threads should check out the General Bicycling discussion list. And there seems to be no Tom Stormcrowe type around to get tired of this form of OT "entertainment".
