I’m still in the training stages of preparing for my first double and was giving some thought to how my distance bike has evolved. I ride a 2010(?) Orbea Terra cyclocross bike with Shimano DA 2x10, Mavic SSC wheels with 32c GP5000’s and a Selle Anatomica saddle.
It has taken me about a year of trying this, trying that, riding numerous centuries, until I finally arrived at its current state which feels like a glove. I suppose this time frame isn’t too unusual?

I think it took me about 2 years of riding 200km/month and a super randonneuring series every year to dial in my bike so I was comfortable. Particularly my hands.
