Hubdoctor ish replacement on Mavic Ksyrium, now stuck

I was having trouble with the freehub on my Mavic Ksyrium, way too much drag. After asking around, I opted for a EU version of the Hubdoctor upgrade, where the vinyl bushing is replaced by bearings. I tried it on the hub, fit fine, but now I can't get it off again. This is a major problem since I didn't put the outer washer on.

My theory is that the replacement is a bit narrower than the catches for the palls, so the palls are holding the freehub on. I've tried patiently twisting and pulling and generally done everything I can to work the freehub off. No luck.

Any ideas?

Maybe it's the pawls holding it back. The click is when the pawls lock in, so try twisting and holding it between clicks when you pull.

It's pretty common with the bearing upgrade. The freehub fits pretty tight. What I did, was screw on the cassette lock ring (with no cassette), and take a large crescent wrench around the freehub body so that the lock ring would catch before it would slide off, Hold it horizontal with the freehub facing down, and lightly whack the wrench with a mallet. You'll have to hit it from the non drive side, and between the spokes. I usually do it over a bin so if the pawls pop out you won't lose them.
