In light of recent conversations about kilo pacing, it's interesting that the medalists were all in the fastest 3 for last lap, but had a lot more scatter for the other splits.

Suggests they either have better fitness/fatigue resistance or paced it better. Eilers was 1st or second for the whole thing (splits and aggregate) though, so it may just tell you he was fastest. Archibald wins the blow sky high award: 1, 2, 9, 12 by 250 to finish sixth.

That's pretty much I rode kilos. I could walk the last 250M faster than I rode it

Holy Sh*t. That's huge.
2 seconds off of a world record.... wow.

This was a team that was struggling to qualify a year ago, and they just went 4 seconds faster than everyone else. That is incredible.

Someone on this forum said the US Women's team was going to be faster than expected. ;-)

To be fair that world record is relatively soft, and will probably get shattered at the Olympics, since 4k for women is so new.

For those not getting a way to watch it, I used www.tunnelbear.com today with success. Sign up, install their bloatware, and you get 500mb free (unlimited is like $8). Hop off in something like the NL and you can watch the stream no problem. Turn the quality down and you should be able to get a full day or two of watching on the 500mb

Women's TP tomorrow around noon EST (finals)

Personally not taking too much from the results. Being an Olympic year, many athletes will be in the middle of hard training blocks...

You can actually just turn it on, start the stream, then turn it off. And I think if you like them on FB or something like that you get an additional 500mb free.

Thats true. I was just talking with a coach yesterday about how we have PanAm games at home, 3 rounds of worlds, world champs, and olympics all in the span of about 11months. When you do not have a B and C squad like AUS/UK/NZ does, it means the same guys peaking and racing every one of those events at full gas. Meanwhile other teams can get their points at worlds with a C team, and save the A riders for the A races.

I believe all 5 team members get medals (same for Olympics) but only four get a podium. I think this is unfair..

Download and install the Tunnelbear browser plugin.
It makes your browser pretend it's in a different country.
Turn it on. Choose Netherlands
Go to youtube.com/ucichannel
Start the stream.
Then turn Tunnelbear off once the stream has started (there's a data limit for T'bear).

The men's Madison race was really exciting (even for me who is not a Madison fan).

Also I note the UCI did not use the track specific rainbow jerseys this year.

For those who don't get the joke.

Back in 2011, Gregory Bauge beat Jason Kenny in sprints at the World Championships.

In January 2012 it was announced that Baugé had received a backdated 12 month suspension for missing doping tests. This meant that all his results for 2011 were nullified. This elevated Britain's Jason Kenny to gold medal position in the Sprint event at the 2011 World Championships, as well as giving the German Team Sprint team the gold medal in the same meet.
Wikipedia

So, at a the February 2012 World Cup, the UCI presented Kenny the Jersey for the previous year's World Championship that he'd now won by a technicality. So, apparently, during the ceremony someone goofed and gave British Cycling President Brian Cookson a Junior jersey (instead of an Elite jersey) to offer Kenny. You can see "Junior" on the shoulder.

In the past, each discipline had its own variation of the jersey. Since the 2016 Cyclo-cross Worlds, the 'classic' jersey without symbols (previously reserved for the road race and paracycling road race) was assigned to all disciplines.

That is the way it used to be years ago.
