I rode my 60 mile loop around and over the Chelahlem "mountains", stopping at an espresso joint before I tackled the up and over to get home. THe joint is a small old house. Bathroom is tight! Being able to unclip my suspenders and do my business in both comfort and accuracy - really nice. The rest of the ride, wearing suspenders clipped to quality shorts that had seen the suspenders since new and had a nice comfortably stretched waistband, well I did notice several times during the ride that my clothes felt excellent and I was really comfortable. Does it get better than that?
I wore my first bibs most of 10 years ago. Yes really nice. But what a hassel! Having to fully undress to do "business"? Or to remove cycling briefs I started a cold morning with. (At Cycle Oregon, we often start riding at close to freezing only to see 80 degrees or warmer later.) I stay away from wearing them for any ride event that I cannot anticipate all of. (I never bought another pair of bibs and haven't even worn that first pair out.)
So count me as on who will never be seen worshipping at the shrine to the bib.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I thought bibs were mostly for those with larger guts who were prone to displaying "plumbers crack" while wearing regular shorts.

Not just for beer guts. Bibs are the ****. Really.
I bought my first bibs this year also and wonder why I have never used them before. I bought a mid priced bib short in case I didn't like them but I am wishing now I bought some better ones. Another bib short is on order and I am trying the Izumi Pro Pursuit bib this time.
I am slim and what bugs me about regular shorts is the top kind of folds or rolls over a bit while riding and it drives me crazy. I am always hiking my jersey up to unroll the shorts at the waist.
Bibs for the win!

Bibs are the bomb digiddy and worn by pros and many others without larger guts, myself included.
There. I corrected you. Have a nice day.

Non-shorts may be fine for some, but I and many others prefer shorts. Nothing superior about non-shorts for the svelte like myself and @datlas.
