Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

TCR SL 1 2020 vs TCR PRO 0 2021

Hey guys,

What would be a better bike between these two, TCR SL 1 disc 2020 vs TCR PRO 0 disc 2021? Both bike are at the same price.

Some points:
- SL 2020 is a better quality carbon frame and it is stiffer,
- pro 0 2021 frame has been redesigned and is more aero,
- ISP is not an issue for me as I don't travel with my bikes,
- I equally like sram and di2 so eventually I think the choice comes down to which frame is better.

Thanks

1 - They are not the same price. The SL will run you at least 1000$ more unless one is on sale.
2 - The SL is better than the Advanced for sure, but the 2021 is redesigned and better.

I'd go with the 2021. It's more than enough. If you need/want a stiffer bike, you might want to go with the SL.

Test ride them both and see which one you prefer. It is a lot of money to spend on a bike on someone else's say so.

In Australia I can get these two bikes at the same price, because 2020 models are discounted.

Sorry mate, I didn't understand which bike you think would be better?

Are they both available in your size? Lot of 2020s are out of stock.

Honestly, you're kind of splitting hairs. The SL frame will be a bit lighter and have an ISP, but that's about it. Personally, I don't really like ISP. I don't know how the redesign of the frame will affect the ride.

What bikes do you currently have? Do you have other wheels that you could swap across these? (This is relevant as AXS is not compatible with Shimano any more.)

I'd go with the 2021 if you don't need/want the extra frame stiffness of the SL Composite.

Get the 2021.
Sram is good but Shimano is generally considered to be more reliable and would also have better resale.
You won't pick the difference in carbon and weight of the SL.
They would of improved the frame design a bit with 2021.
Resale of ISP bikes not good, especially if you have to cut it quite a lot.

+1 on that. This is also one of the reasons why I don't cut down my steerer tubes.

Travel issues and poor resale value are not the only problems with the TCR SL's ISP.

Because that's the one I got yesterday The frame is completely redesigned and will be produced for the next 4 years at least. The 2020 will be outdated by then.

Waiting for my Dura-Ace discs to arrive (prefer the black rotors). It will be even more beautiful!
