That is what I imagine @Velo Vol looked like this morning during his 8:30AM nap.

Probably not, but you can drive a real NASCAR car at Texas Motor Speedway: https://www.nascarracingexperience.c...otor-speedway/

Oh, can do that at Bristol, too. Fees based on lappage, though. Probably doesn't take long to do a half-mile lap.

That’s a tough call, especially since I don’t know what you’ve got, but a significant reduction in pain is reasonable to expect if it’s nerve pain. How’s that for wishy-washy?

I spent some time today cleaning up the Classique. I'd say that of the 3 vintage bikes I've bought, this one is in the best condition by far. The paint is still glossy, the aluminum is shiny, the paint in the decorative detailing is still there. When I got it, the hubs shells looked almost rusty, but it was just old oil and dirt and came right off with Simple Green and a brush.
It's got a long cage derailleur and a 13-32 6-speed cassette. Originally, the cassette was gold colored, but a lot has worn off. I don't know if it's the original chain, but I checked it with the chain checker and it's fine. It also came with a Dork Disc, which I removed. After I cleaned it, it looked almost new, with little or none of the usual UV damage.
Similarly, the crankset has a chainguard that bolts onto the big ring. I don't think I'll keep that on, either. The Crank Brothers pedals came with it. I'll get rid of those and maybe put on some new Looks.
Brakes are the old, wimpy sidepulls. I've ordered new Kool Stop pads.
The shift levers are the clamp-on type, and there's a little thingie brazed onto the downtube.
It's rideable right now, but I still want to do a full restoration. Then I'll ride it a bit and see if I want to keep it. The Classique is a "sport/touring bike", unlike the Supreme which is a racing bike. In addition to the 32t cog and long cage derailleur, it's also got longer chainstays. The tires, which were original, are supposedly 700 x 25, but they're only the size of 23mm tires.

Did my good deed for the week. A group of us from my tramping (hiking) club went and helped some farmers clean up flood debris from their farms. A day of picking tangled grass, roots, branches out from fences, often in calf deep mud is hard work. I'll be stiff and sore tomorrow.

We have not seen (or heard) much of the “Brood X” cicadas in my area. However, yesterday’s ride took us through rural Berks County, PA, and the noise was impressive. We even had a few fly into us. They are not elegant flyers.
