[QUOTE=LesterOfPuppets;22115133]Mayhem down under!!!
I was a truck driver for years. Mostly worked from San Francisco down to Monterey. When I had to deliver in Carmel by the Sea, there were no street numbers. Always a challenge.
My bee story. On one ride bees kept attacking me, Had to stop several times to get them out of my helmet. I don't know if it was a coincidence, but it was the first time I wore my California Cyclist jersey, which happened to have California poppies all over it.

Maybe (probably) she would fall for the Velo Vol charm and support us both with her commercial earnings.
Not that I have any experience with that type of thing.

Got up earlier than normal and... thunderstorms everywhere. So I lost out on that extra half hour of sleep for nothing.

We have a new pet, though it'll be a short-term one:
My wife found it in the carrots when she was watering the garden this morning. I built a little enclosure and it's been happily munching on carrot greens and parsley. It's surprising how much this damn thing poops.

dude, that’s the worst. Usually I wake up super early and say nope, and i’ll get up later. I wake up later and then realize I don’t have the time for the miles that my legs crave.
Waking up early for no miles or work sucks.

At least you picked a good time to sell a boat and the deal went smoothly. It would have sucked to get bogged down in something you didn't really want to do. Going to buy yourself a new bike?

Just canceled next month's trip to Iceland to visit daughter while we try to find a plastic surgeon who a. can play nicely with breast surgeon in the OR; b. takes Medicare/Tricare for Life; and c. has an opening before August. ...or look for a whole new breast surgeon who knows a plastic surgeon etc, etc.

I took Mrs. Peel for last night's ride. I did my '40km TT' route. I wanted to see whether I could improve on the best time I'd managed (1:29:27), so I went hard, and managed 1:25:40. After the last climb, there's a flat section before the final downhill. When I hit the top section there was a guy on a newish Pinarello, not going really fast, not as fast as I was, anyway. I passed him and less than 5 seconds later he passes me, I guess having decided he wasn't gonna be shown up by a 63 year old guy on a 40 year old bike.
But he'd jumped from too close, so I had no problem spinning up to catch him. I didn't ride his wheel, but stayed at least 2 bike lengths behind and off to the side, but it was so windy and we were going about 25-30 mph, so even at that distance I probably had some benefit. With 100 yards to go I spun the 52x13 for all it was worth and flew by him. You might say I droped the hamer. After I passed the sign I use for demarcation, I sat up, let him pass and then did a U-turn to get back to the car. He didn't look or wave or acknowledge me in any way.
Anyway, it's probable he wasn't racing me, but the instantaneous response to my passing him the first time just made me want to show that 40 year old bikes can go fast, too. And what the hell, it was fun.
