Or what's the original? And what's the copy? Is the copy just as good? Is the copy better for some reason? Like you're now free from worry of damaging the original? Or is everything pretty much a copy at this point?

This hammer is an heirloom. The head has been replaced twice and the handle three times. That is how old it is.

My copy of a René Herse has an Origin8 bottom bracket in it.
It is superior to the original because it has a cassette and an XTR rear derailleur, and I'm not afraid to ruin it by hooning around the dunes. But it's also inferior: in spite of all the tech (not even MounTech!), it's somehow not as lightweight as the original.
