Bianchi Identification

Can anyone nail down the year and model of this Bianchi? I believe the decals suggest 1982-87. It is Italian made, has Gipiemme dropouts, Formula One Columbus tubing, and Shimano 105 components except for the seat post and Mavic headset. Thanks in advance.

The Formula One tubeset was only used in 1986 and only on the Trofeo and Vittoria models. However, if the fork is non-OEM, as BG suspects, then the combination of graphics and Gipiemme dropouts open things up to a significantly wider range of models spanning 1985-1987. 1987 was the first model year for those Shimano New 105 components, which were used on that year's Bianchi Brava but it was sourced from Japan and this frame is Italian manufacture by virtue of the rear Gipiemme dropouts. So, as BG stated, the entire bicycle appears to have been rebuilt. Even the stem style post dates the frame. The serial number will at least tell us the year of manufacture, at which point we can try to narrow things down, though the Italian manufacture and lack of a front derailleur hanger limits it to one of the mid-range models.

I’m pretty sure none of the components are original to this frame.
This is as close as I have of the seat lug and the Formula One decal, which is in an odd location (I suspect because of the small frame size).

That's good because I'd be getting rid of the Shimano anyway.

Here’s a photo of the serial number. Does this help with the year and model ID?

7790 A.6 would be January 1986, I believe. (My 1982 model year, made-in-late-1981, frame is 1.M 9914.)

As noted by John E, the serial number indicates January 1986, so it's definitely a 1986 model. However, the location of the tubing decal on the down tube is atypical for 1986 and the edges are quite damaged. It may be OEM but it looks suspicious to me . While it's definitely a 1986 mid-range model, I know of no method to distinguish between frames using the Formula One and Formula Two tubesets, other than the tubing decals. Outwardly, the frames appear to be identical.

Thanks for the info. I’ll build it up with Victory and assume it’s a Vittoria.
